A recently-commissioned report into the role of religion in public life on Britain has found that almost half of the population of the U.K. identifies as non-religious.
The report suggests that aspects of the state that include overt references to Christianity, such as royal or judicial affairs, should be revised.
The report also found that Islam, Hinduism and Sikhism have all overtaken Judaism as the country's largest non-Christian faiths. Also, Anglican beliefs appear to be on the decline, whilst Pentecostal and evangelical denominations are becoming more popular.
Thoughts?
I personally couldn't be happier; Christianity has had it nice for far too long, and should take its place alongside other religious faiths in public life.

Half the people in the U.K. have common sense. Guess which half it is.
Non-religious
-
And a quarter are edgy teens.
-
I look forward to the day it gets to 100%.

Edited by Treebeard: 12/8/2015 1:06:23 PMI think public society should be expunged of religion. Keep the churches and mosques etc., but no public displays of religion. So no headscarves/ burqas, no worn crosses, no street preaching. Let people who are religious be religious in their own time. Religion serves to put imaginary barriers between people.

The Conservatives will leave the country religious. It's part of their thing.

Edited by Vilhelmus II: 12/7/2015 11:48:25 PMOh joy, now we can have more edgy self-absorbed assholes putting down other people's beliefs. Good talk.

I'm not gunna be satisfied until we stop with belief and move forward as species with fact. Believing in something doesn't make us evolve believing in something doesn't make it real. Fact is real. Reality is real. Religion is based on fact but why am I praising any gods based on culture thousands of years ago where toothpaste and toilet paper weren't even a thing? Jesus was a dead zombie jew with magical powers. Nuff said.
-
That's because most of the U.K. still believes in the queen.
-
If I'm not mistaken, Christianity is on the rise in eastern parts of the world but decline in western parts. There are still large segments of the world that don't even know what a Jesus Christ is.
-
Hail Satan! But seriously, secular lifestyles for the win.
-
All these people giving weird reasons for why, it's probably because we can't be arsed to care
-
That means half of Britain isn't insane.

Edited by ReignofSpartain: 12/8/2015 12:01:07 AMI didn't need bbc to know that. They are more progressive than the Wild West offshoots that went to North America (middle North America) it would be obvious to assume they would also be more secular and it also help explains why they are more accepting of Muslim populations
religion isn't really as necessary in first world countries either
HA They're the ones who made the King-James bible. Right?

Edited by o_____________o: 12/7/2015 7:01:00 PMIt is absurd to think that Christianity is ever allowed to have it nice for "too long".Anyway, I would not worry about it too much. Catholicism rose up in the middle of persecution. Heck, our savior willingly suffered one of the most horrendous forms of capital punishment and he expects us to face the same kind of danger and persecution. So while Christianity may decline in some periods, it will never die out.
-
As it should be. It's basically the US, of all the big evolved countries that are still clinging onto Christianity and religion.
-
Seeing as how there is no strong evidence Jesus even existed it doesn't surprise me.

The BBC needs deleting.
