Hey all! I've decided to pause the plot (or Takes altogether) for a little while, because I'm getting a console fixed today, and I'm gonna play it for a few days to catch up on my need to play it again. Heh. But on the bright side, I've decided to bring back Rush to go on a mission with the Hunter in this intermission! It takes place after the events of Take 18, but before Take 19. It's just Rush and the Hunter! (Behind the scenes-ish.) And don't act so shocked, I know ya'll wanted this~.
Missed the previous Take? The Hunter explained, riding his Sparrow alongside Rush. Rush nodded once. "Alright. But I still don't understand why you dragged me out here, for a mission you could've done yourself?" The Hunter grunted, getting irritated by Rush's question. "Because I just wanted to, okay?!" He shouted over Rush's and his communication link. Rush blinked, taken slightly aback by the Hunter snapping at him. "Ah... Okay..." Rush said lowly, frowning. The Hunter grumbled under his breath. He shouldn't have yelled at Rush like that. "Look... I'm sorry..." He apologized, "I just wanted to make 'amends" with you about my stupid 'goodbye'--" He removed his hands from the Sparrow's accelerators for a brief moment to make air quotation marks with his fingers with the words "amends" and "goodbye", before putting his hands back on the Sparrow. "Back at the Tower. Alright?" Rush nodded once, understanding, and pleasantly surprised that the Hunter went out of his way to find Rush. Maybe he wasn't as much of a jerk as Rush thought he was. ____________________________ "Ah... Where are we exactly?" Rush asked, as he and the Hunter traveled on foot, nearing a waterfall. "Have no idea." The Hunter simply said, in the lead. They were traversing on rocks and ledges along the bottom of a fairly large waterfall. One that even surprised Rush that they even existed anymore. "I thought you knew what we were doing!" Rush exclaimed. Had the Hunter dragged him out here for nothing? "Cool it, Rush. Just thought we'd be able to spend some time together..." The Hunter chuckled as he gave a weak answer. He didn't plan on getting lost in all honesty. "Y-you mean we're stuck out here?" Rush shouted in disbelief. The Hunter stopped and turned around to look at Rush. "Heh, then why don't you leave~?" He dared, smirking smugly inside of his helmet. "Wh-what...?" Rush inquired. "I'm not keeping you here, you know..." The Hunter snickered. If Rush wanted to leave, that was his own fault. He was trying to be "buddy-buddy" with Rush after all. "Hunt..." Rush called to his Ghost. And no later than being called, Hunt appeared. "Yes...?" Hunt asked, appearing beside Rush's head. "Ready to go to Orbit...?" "Yeah, Rush, you ready~?" The Hunter snickered, stretching casually. Rush turned a bright hue of red, eyes diverting from the Hunter. He was not going to go prove to the Hunter that getting lost bothered him. Not at all. "Scratch that, Hunt. Looks like I'm staying." ____________________________ "So... What do you think of your Fireteam...?" Rush randomly asked the Hunter to break the ice between themselves. "Huh? What...?" The Hunter, who was still leading the way, stopped for a brief moment to turn his head to look over his shoulder at Rush. "Oh, my team...?" "Yes." Rush nodded once, confirming his question. The Hunter shrugged. "Meh, they're okay I guess... Big Guy's a fun guy to hang around with... Minus the fact that he wants to hug you most of the time..." He answered, cracking his knuckles, bored. "And what about the Warlock...?" Rush continued to ask the Hunter. The Hunter stopped messing around with his hands, and answered Rush's question. "She's just a dumb nerd who's fun to keep around, that's all..." The Hunter finally answered after a moment of silence, obviously beating around the bush. Rush blinked. That couldn't have been the Hunter's only feelings towards the Warlock, could it...? "Yeah... I guess she's nice and all... I mean, aside from lecturing me twenty-four seven, she's nice... Even though I was a jerk to her the entire time she was in our Fireteam." The Hunter continued, then sighed, frustrated with himself about his behavior towards her. "I just wish I could apologize..." He muttered, letting out a sputtering sigh. Rush put a hand on the Hunter's shoulder. "I understand... You and the Warlock obviously have a lot to talk about..." The Hunter smiled warmly under his helmet as Rush put a hand on his shoulder. "Yeah... Thanks." After a moment, the Hunter started to notice that Rush had his hands on him for too long. The Hunter cleared his throat. "Uh, yeah, Rush? Do you mind?" The Hunter said awkwardly. Rush blinked, slightly confused. Until he, himself, realized that he was touching the Hunter for too long as well. "Oh. Ah. Right, sorry..." Rush awkwardly apologized, clearing his throat as well. The Hunter started to chuckle abruptly. "Heh, that was weird..." Rush also started to chuckle for some reason. "Aha... Yes, it kind of was..." "Heheh..." The Hunter's chuckles became more frequent. "Ahahaha..." Rush's chuckles started to morph into laughs. "BWAHAHAHAHAHA!" Both Rush and the Hunter broke out into laughter, neither of them having any idea what was going on. The Hunter, having a jolly old time, slapped Rush's back. A little too hard. "HAHA-- Wh-whoa!" Rush laughter was cut off once the Hunter's slap on his back started to make him go off balance. The Hunter didn't notice anything, he was in his own little... "joy box" at that moment. Until he heard the sound of Rush falling into the water with a loud splash. ____________________________ "I-I-I-I'm fine..." Rush feebly lied, shivering, cold and wet as he hugged himself, trying to keep himself warm. He and the Hunter had set up in a small cavern near the waterfall, a small fire that the Hunter had compiled, dimly lighting the cave. Rush sat near the end of the cave, while the Hunter sat on the opposite end of Rush, trying to wring Rush's Dead Orbit Cloak free of water. "Look, I'm sorry Rush..." The Hunter apologized, walking towards the fire to set Rush's cloak down near it to let it dry. "I-I-It's okay..." Rush said, stifling a sneeze. He was definitely going to catch a cold. The Hunter left the fire and sat next to Rush, studying his shivering body. "Uh... You wanna borrow my cloak...?" The Hunter offered. Rush look at the Hunter, trying to suppress his chattering teeth. "Th-th-thank you, Hunter..." Rush thanked the Hunter. The Hunter nodded, taking off his cloak and wrapping it around Rush. "Th-this is a kind gesture..." Rush remarked, still looking at the Hunter. "I'm not always the self centered jerk that people think I am, you know..." The Hunter snorted, rubbing the back of his neck. "Heh..." Rush huffed lightly in amusement, standing up. "I-I'd better go sit by the fire..." "What's that gotta do with me?" The Hunter asked, watching Rush go sit by the fire. Should he join him...? Nah. ____________________________ "Aaaaaaaand, I think that's it." The Hunter announced as his Ghost had finished scanning the perimeter. "I don't understand," Rush stated, "We had to scan near this waterfall...?" The Hunter shrugged. "'Ey, I don't come up with this stuff... I just do what the Vanguards tell me to." Watching his Ghost disappear, the Hunter turned around to face Rush. "Well, I guess I'd better be heading back home..." Rush blinked, slightly disappointed that they couldn't spend more time together, as friends did. It certainly beat being by himself. "Ah, does it have to be right at this moment...?" The Hunter nodded. "Yeah, I gotta get back so I can catch some winks before I gotta get up. You know how it is..." The Hunter chuckled, and Rush chortled lightly, nodding in agreement. "I understand. Thank you for your time." Rush nodded once in appreciation, making the Hunter smirk. "Hey, it was no problem. But uh..." The Hunter's smirk faded and his voice shrank into a whisper. "Let's not bring up the cave thing with anyone, okay...?" Rush laughed lightly, nodding his head. "Sure, Hunter..."
Take 24...MOAR: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/163535111
