Complete disregard for players who cannot afford the DLC

I bought a game. Destiny. That game came with the features that I payed for, that were advertised for that game. You have taken away the majority of these features for year one players who cannot afford to, or do not want to fork out the money to pay for all of the DLC, especially The Taken King, which seems to be changing destiny into a new game; NOT THE ONE THAT YOU ADVERSTISED. Maybe check the legality of this all. I'm almost certain that advertising something and then not providing that service is illegal. Removal of heroic strikes for anybody who does not have the DLC is the perfect example of this. As well as any form of challenging strike playlist, ways to get marks in order to do anything in your game and unlock things in the first place. Your complete lack of regard for this part of the community is atrocious. Not that I think you will do anything about it.

    • It's all perfectly legal. If you read the EULA it basically states that buying Destiny gives you the ability to log on to their servers and play the game; however much of it they deem is available based on your current Destiny version. You never owned any of the content, so it's not in anyway illegal to take it away? Is it immoral? That's a totally different story, and I can see why players are upset about it. I guarantee you that a multi billion dollar corporation like Activision has a team of Harvard educated lawyers to analyze pretty much everything they do and then protect/warn them from anything they may want to do that would cause legal exposure.

      • Speaking as an advertising guy myself, your legal qualms won't get you far. I don't recall Nightfalls, Heroic Strikes, or Daily story missions being part of the official advertising in the slightest. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather Bungie throw vanilla players a bone (a low level Nightfall and access to lower tier Legendary gear/year 1 Exotics), but none of this is false advertising and the case would be dropped immediately.

      • So I'm pretty sure everything they've done is legal. Technically they haven't removed any content from the game, if you didn't purchase TTK you have access to all the strikes, mission and raids that you purchased throughout year 1 you just don't meet the level requirements to access the nightfall and heroic playlists. I'm not saying I agree with it, just that i don't think there's a case legally here regardless of the EULA or any of that stuff as people have referenced cases where EULA's were shown to be invalid in certain situations.

        • Wether or not anyone an afford the DLC is not the point that is being made here It's about these awful business practices towards customers who choose not to buy DLC and the removal of prior accessible content that was paid for

                • If you had money for a console, Internet provider, vanilla, tdb, & HoW you more than likely have money for TTK... And if you aren't buying it based off pride then you weren't planning on playing anymore anyways

                • This person is absolutely right. Overpriced, selective Dlc should not be the status quo. All of you commenting on this about getting jobs or whatever are completely missing the point of this. The fact that Bungie/Activision give no consideration for players who can't afford or simply don't want certain Dlc is just plain wrong. And by defending them and playing into these scams you're basically telling them you don't care about your own time and money. With the path you're on, this will quickly become the status quo for all gaming developers.

                    • I have a good paying job. The 40 is not the issue. Being coerced into more dlc to retain the right to things I already paid for us just plain wrong. I will not be buying ttk and will spend that 40 dollars on a game that deserves my support.

I would just like to add that they have further taken away crucible playlists bar 3 general choices from people who have not bought the DLC. I am this close to snapping the disk in two. I am never going to buy anything from either bungie or activision again, I have lost all faith in both of these companies. Liers and cheats, thieves for a better word. I cannot wait for Bethesda to release Fallout 4 in November. $30 for all DLC says a lot about how they feel about their fan base. Until then Borderlands and its sequels were much better games than Destiny ever was anyway. Good riddance I say.
