With the ridiculously easy bounties and little xp required I kinda felt like my levelling from 27 to 34 was too fast and not as satisfying it should've been. I'm not complaining about it, the options the new level system gives is great, but I can't shake the feeling that it should've taken longer.
Is this so more people will be level 34 by the time TTK is released?
-
Your light level is going to be what is hard to upgrade just wait getting max light will be challenging
-
Yes it was too fast. If it's so easy to level up immediately, why bother raising the level cap at all?
-
Well I've been playing since alpha. I've ran all warlock, then rerolled titans, then rerolled warlock on two and a hunter. Tonight i deleted a warlock and started a titan again to run with one of each class. I got to level 11 in under 2 hours. Interesting how they changed leveling. I like it. Plus i can damn sure get one to 34 before release.

Intentional on Bungie's part to allow newcomers to level up quickly and be on par with vets.
-
They're making it easier for late comers, such as yourself, to catch up.
-
They want you to level up fast so you can acquire new gear and put it to use. This isn't vanilla Destiny where it took hours to do things, everything is streamlined. It's better this way.
-
I have no clue. Had 3 34s for months
-
Level 27/34 and 40 don't mean anything anymore it just allows you to use the new weapons and the new gear. It's a percentage% of all your weapons and gear that determine your light level.
-
I love it a lot more. Bounties don't feel like a chore anymore and the game is overall more fun.
-
This is what happens when devs cater to casuals

Edited by Sanctus Michael: 9/11/2015 9:24:08 AMNo. Because I'm betting everything will have a level 40 requirement when ttk comes out. Since your damage output and resistance is light determined and not level, there's no reason to make leveling a lengthy chore, light leveling will be. It's just changing your frame of mind. Year 1 level was the goal so that should take time. Year 2 it's light. Making leveling harder will only keep you from legendary vendor gear when ttk is out. I think that's why they said your yr 1 gear will be relevant the first few hours of ttk release, because everything else will have 40 requirement. Imagine how pissed people would be that they can't even use new stuff for days if leveling was harder. No, leveling needs to be fast and easy, it's only there to restrict and be a gate for non ttk players, to keep them from advancing thier light too much by restricting the weapons and armor they can use. Since they will have access to yr1 content only, a 240-300 light yr 1 player would crush yr 1 content.

it was stupidly fast, I got all the expansions yesterday and at the time was lv29, got to 34 in a few hours, but lvl doesnt really determine your strength as much as light, my light atm is 154 I think so I now need to get better armour and weapons to up it even more, and don't forget the taken king comes out in a few days so cap will be lv40 plus new weapons and armour, it's not over yet guardian!
-
I'm waiting to see how big the steps are from 34-40 before judging.
-
Yeah its really easy to level up i got half a level just from nightfall
-
Light lvl is what matters, not XP.
-
You might be level 34, but you still need to get to 170 light to actually be at the peak of whats possible right now.
-
In short, yes. It brings the newer players up to speed with the long time players, giving the game a much larger (equal leveled) player base. That's why they give a "spark" for brand new players to use to get at least one of their characters to 25. Be thankful as the day oners had it the worst, followed by the Christmas noobs (first gen). I am part of the later group and a lot of us were all 30/31's for what seemed like months.
-
I don't mind if xp in fast. Heck leveling in this game is so...... boring. Leveling up was a chore for me after the first character, but maybe with the new quest and rearrange quest line it will be better. There is grind everywhere else, if xp is not one I'm good with it. After all the game really start once you reach max lvl.......
-
Getting to level 20 the first time round was always easy, it was the grind after that (forever 29!), the next two caps were a little easier (34 was wayyy to easy) Going to lvl 40 and max light level maybe more of a grind. We will find out next week!
-
My friend went from 31 to almost 34 in one nightfall.
-
Ehhh a little bit, but levels aren't as important as they are in, say, WoW. Abilities and unlocks are tied to exp gains instead of just being tied to levels, and leveling is really more of a side bonus.
-
Probably, Bungie are always making it easier for "newer" players to reach the max level quicker. Getting to level 40 once TTK drops should be fairly easy I can only imagine, what will be the big grind is our light levels. I can only guess that the max light level is somewhere in the region of 280+ based on seeing what a year 2 exotic was at during one of the reveals. So getting every weapon and armor piece to this level will certainly take some time, especially if you are looking to infuse preferred gear instead of raid gear
-
I completed all of my crucible bounties in 2 games, way too easy
-
Edited by BunkerGATE13: 9/11/2015 8:56:24 AMYes!!! Way too fast Doesn't seem like the experience till next level goes up as you increase level.. (Mind you I haven't play tested a new character -perhaps it's harder )
-
I'd like something similar to Borderlands Badass points. That kept me playing just to keep my character improving. The grind had a sense of purpose and my character just kept getting better and better. They could be turned off for PVP (though I'd love to see some of the beasts hardcore players worked on!). You want to hook a player? The allure of building a powerful character is one hell of an incentive to play. The chance to be better than the next guy is a big motivator in the MMO and FPS communities. This game could be unique in that both skill and time could offer that opportunity.

Being a lvl 34 means nothing now. The whole point of this update was to approach lvling differently. What matters more is the light number underneath that 34 - 153, 164, current max out at 170; 171 warlocks; that will determine your survivability and dmg output in PVE. You can be lvl 40 and still not be doing the maximum dmg output and have full survivability. This whole 2.0 was to approach lvling differently - lvl and "light lvl" are now two separate things.
