Transferring Characters?

I bought the 360 version of Destiny quite a while ago. Built the character I have now over plenty of hours... Would it be possible to transfer this guy to my PS4 copy of Destiny? I'd love to take this guy into The Taken King. If not, no probs :P

I think you can only transfer from Xbox to Xbox one, PS3 to 4.

I'm pretty sure if you change consoles you have to start from scratch.
