The Return of the King(s)

"Another Great House hides among us... " -Ikora Rey "Look at it from the House of Kings' perspective. Their power is matched only by their cleverness. They rule the Devils from the shadows and came too close to toppling the City not once, but twice. We don't know much about them, but we know this: the Kings want the Traveler." -Prince Uldren "Prince Uldren: Of the Kell of Kings, we know nothing. Wherever, whoever it is, it remains hidden, even when the so-called Kell of Kells comes to its borders. Instead, it sends just two Barons: Paskin and Vekis" -Prince Uldren Grimoire: THE RULING HOUSE Variks stares up through the shielding surrounding the Vestian Outpost. The thin filament of energy almost imperceptible, keeping in the heat and atmosphere within the confines of the hollowed out ketch hull. His mandibles idly opened and closed as he contemplated the view. Variks (to himself): Goes after Winter. Devils, Kings. Seeks power. Kings deny him. Kell of Kings hides well. Perhaps he will take back the Great Machine. Perhaps I chose the wrong side. It is not too late— Petra (over comm): Variks, Crows are reporting Skolas is back in the Ishtar Sink. They're all over the Vex networks. Variks: Yes. Right away Ever since the Battle at the Twilight Gap that ultimately divided the Great Houses of the Fallen, The City and its guardians have fought many battles with the invaders. The champions of Light have had to war with the warmongering Devils nearly every day right outside their doorstep. On Luna, exiles and traitors had infested the moon and proved themselves to be a nuisance that would hinder the dream of the City reclaiming Earth's moon from the Hive. In the Ishtar Sink on Venus, the Fallen that fly the banner of a snowy tree settled and had taken to pillaging the ancient research libraries in hopes of finding secrets that would allow them to destroy the City. And in the Reef, the House of Wolves as well as the last surviving member of the House of Judgement ended up serving the Queen of the Awoken after being defeated by said Queen. It would seen that the Fallen were everywhere. But now, with the coming of the next generation of guardians, the Fallen are being pushed back. The Devils are being forced to retreat as both their Archon and Prime Servitor are eliminated. The bannerless Exiles are brought to heel by the dual assault from the influx of guardians and reawakening Hive. The foundations of the House of Winter are laid low with the assassination of their Kell- a loss that was only the latest added to an already long list as the once proud House holds together by mere threads. Even the traitoress House of Wolves who were revered for their awesome weaponry and merciless tactics are muzzled and put down by Earth's guardians and the Awoken of The Reef. So much for the supposed "Kell of Kells"... But in all of this conflict, another house has stayed silent- hardly reacting at all to any of these events. They have kept to themselves and managed to hide well enough to where nothing is known about them: their military strength, their leadership, the exact location(s) of their lair(s)... They have become an enemy veiled in mystery that we know only the name of- The House of Kings. Another fact that makes this House so dangerous is the fact that they are not outlyers that are sitting somewhere on the fringe of the encroaching darkness- out of the guardians reach. No- the fact stands that they have not even left Earth since the Battle of Twilight Gap all those centuries ago. They wouldn't leave- not without the Traveler. The Fallen call the Traveler "The Great Machine" and it was their ultimate goal when they first invaded Earth. However after the Twilight Gap, the race was scattered along with their ideals, and for the most part the Traveler was forgotten. The Devils became incredibly aggressive, bitter from their past defeat even now and have directed their vengeful fury on the denizens of the City themselves. The Exiles were formed only after the battle and their only goal is to survive the harsh Lunar environment they call home no matter the cost. Winter had been plotting to return and renew their assault on the City, but it is unknown if the pale-armored Fallens' motives were also to the Traveler- now, even that goal is lost in Winter's internal conflict. The Wolves had grown an insatiable lust for power and their leaders would seek to conquer this alien star system rather than claim the Traveler on Earth. Other Houses have either perished or disappeared without a trace. Only the Kings and House of Judgement have kept true to their race's original goal. And so, the House clad in gold have plotted and prepared in the shadows of Earth. The Kings have set the playing field for their game of shadows, and wherever it is that the Great Kell that lords over this Fallen House resides, it sits upon a throne waiting... waiting for a opening... for the the City to make a mistake. It is not a question of if the City will make a mistake but when. It will happen soon. The Kings shall begin their game of war, and it is unsure if the Light of the Guardians and the City will be able to fend them off a third time. ALL HAIL THE KINGS! ******************************************************************************************************** Alright. Now that that's over. I will just say that this is a thread for discussing the House of Kings and topics related to them. If you haven't noticed so far, then I will say that they are my favorite of the Fallen Houses and I believe that the are currently the most immediate threat to the City. Here are some discussion ideas: -Where are the House of Kings? (yes they are in King's Watch, but surely that's not the only place) -Would they ally/conquer the other Fallen Houses like Skolas attempted to do or attack the city by themselves? -Would they be successful in taking the Traveler? (In an honest scenario not game scenario) -Do you think the Kings should have their own DLC? If so describe how? What would the name be? -Do you think that the Kings would have special weaponry like the Wolves? If so, what kind of stuff? -Why are there King sigils at the Winter's Run boss fight? Could Aksor have been a King? -Why do the Kings want the Traveler so badly?

  • In reply to your Aksor question, I believe when you're killed by him, underneath his name, it says House of Kings. Also, in the prison of elders, the Archon-servants there also belong to the kings.

I believe that the Kings are an apocalypse in hibernation. They do not intend to reveal themselves because they have a super weapon, or worse... A super army. Here's a fan-made Ghost Fragment peeking into a possible future. "Everything happened so fast. One minute I was gazing at the glory of the City. Next, Fallen Pikes were raining down hellfire from the sky. I thought the Traveler was protecting us. Now, Fallen Vandals- Kings Vandals- are ransacking the whole city. There are masses of them. I'm starting to think they broke through the wall. As terrifying as they are, the Captain leading them scares me the most. Unlike the armies, whooping and hollering, he stands silent, scenting the air. I already saw him take down a whole Fireteam by himself. Wait... What's that? It's a Prime Servitor, but it's as big as the Traveler. It seems to be powering, something... Wait, what's tha---------"

      • One theory states that Earth's guardians were not the first army that the Traveler created. The Fallen are speculated to be the predecessors to the Traveler's current guardians. Thousands upon thousands of years ago, the Traveler had found life in another star system. The species were sentient but underdeveloped- much too weak to fight off the Darkness that pursued the mysterious sphere. So, (like with us) the Traveler gave the species a "little" push. The found life advanced at a fanominal rate and brought about a golden age of technology, science, and space exploration. They were eternally grateful to the Traveler. They were its champions and worshiped it as their god. But as the Darkness began to surround the Great Machine and its minions, the Traveler knew that they were not ready. THE FALL They were unable to hold it back. They weren't strong enough. When Traveler saw Darkness crush the species, it fled as the worlds of its followers were consumed and destroyed. It would have to search for another species that it could manipulate like its old servants. But not all of the champions that the Traveler abandoned died. They had made sure to evacuate many onto there ships and made a mass exodus into space as their home were destroyed by the Darkness. They mourned for their loss and wondered why their god left them. They were nothing but drifters now- a once successful race, now Fallen from greatness. The Fallen managed to track down the Traveler across the void between stars. They find that their god has new champions. THEY ARE USURPERS! THEIVES! They are unworthy of the blessings of the Great Machine!
