Why does light level matter in trials of osiris?

All my weapons and gear are above 1520 light lvl (the minimum requirement in trials) but I still do less damage against other players in trials. Eg. Ace of spades does 50 damage instead of 70 which it deals in elimination (takes 4 head shots to kill someone) and shotguns are basically useless. Why would light lvl matter in a pvp? It takes away the whole competitiveness of something like trials. I'm a returning player so I still have the game knowledge to hold my own in pvp but haven't had enough time put in it yet to become max light lvl.

  •
Why would light lvl matter in a pvp?
Light level doesn't matter in most pvp modes. Trials of Osiris is considered an end-game activity, which is why light level makes such a difference.

    • Yeah, in Trials and Iron Banner, power level is activated - artifact levels are turned off. So your power is just your gear. If you're running 1520-1530 and your opponents are in the 1550-1560 range, you're gonna struggle for kills and be easier to kill.
