  • We really aren't, we aren't actively stealing light and bottling it up for later use...

  • what are the orbs of power (formerly orbs of light) used for then? shards, wells, etc. we profit from their death and now it's vice versa with lucent hive being a thing and all.

  • Orbs of light aren't cannon. The only time they are, were in the IO adventure. And there's a difference between generating light by defeating the enemies of the last city and torturing guardians and stealing their light...

  • the difference depends on who's side you're on tho. believe it or not some people cheer for the bad guy in the movie. not saying im siding with the hive, just saying "what goes around comes around" kinda sorta.

We are the last chance for humanity... The darkness and its allies are BAD. We are good. Good guys have to walk the line to do what's right. As of now, the lucent hive are... And this may shock you so hold on to your hats. BAD. Savathuun was ressurected because she saved the traveler... The rest of the lucent hive were, and get this... Ressurected by ghosts who have up long ago trying to find their guardian.

  • A good comparison, just because the lucent hive have the light doesn't mean they are good. In fact quite the opposite as Savathuun remembers her past life and continues to work against us. She only saved the traveler and us because she saw a needs to a end... To free herself from the worms.

  • an even better comparison would be bees 🐝 did you know that there are parasitic and non parasitic bees? charles darwin originally named them humblebees until someone in 20th century discovered a different type of bee who he named bumblebee. nowadays, bumblebee is common. so why the name change? it's pretty dramatic to go from hum to bum right, rather insulting it is. here's the thing tho, the hum-blebee forms a mutually beneficial relationship with the flower: pollinates in exchange for nectar. the bum-blebee forms a parasitic relationship! here's why (or simply look up 'nectar robbers' for more detail): the bumblebee chews a hole in the nectar pod and laps up the goodstuff. the bum avoids contact with the flowers pollen; basically dine-and-dashes leaving the flower damaged and exposed to other dangers like open wounds often do. clever hive bees come along and lap up what the bum couldn't finish. imagine the flower how it "feels". it does feel because it shifts energy cycle from reproductive mode back to growth/repair mode, often to it's detriment and demise since it likely won't be able to make pollen again, spread its genetics, be reborn etc. the humblebee uses the straw and gently slurps the goodstuff while coming into contact with flower pollen via all those wee hairs on its body. flies away, while leaving the flower intact and hopeful that it will live again. of course slurping thru straw takes time but the humblee doesn't mind, just hums away! it's actually quite fascinating when you consider fractals and such. it's sorta relevant to considering bees are dwindling in numbers on a global scale. relative to destiny the game, with all of the different species friend or foe, what matters the most in the big picture is who be humming and who be bumming? who are parasitic to the sol & fol (seed of life, flower of life)? imho, it's obvious.
