I just posted this on another thread but so it’s here for newer posts:
I have a workaround that I was able to just do a few hours ago (for issues around it saying you do not have any changes available or you cannot change your name).
Steps require using a Chrome or FireFox browser on a computer (or any browser with a Dev Tool):
1) login to your account and go to the account settings page with the user name field.
2) Right-click on user name input field and select “Inspect Element”.
3) In the element inspector panel that opens, you should have the username input field selected.
4) find the “disabled” tag, and double click to highlight it, and press delete key to remove this disabled tag.
5) Now you will be able to type in the input field up on the page.
6) Change your name and hit Save.
Remember it will only work one time!! So be sure you type it correctly.

Thank you sooooo much! It actually worked.

Where do you find the "disabled" tag? I am on Chrome and I got to step 3 but there wasn't anything that said "disabled." Is there another name for the tag or am I just missing something?
-
It should look something like this: <input name="displayName" type="text" disabled …> There’s more there but the disabled should be after the type tag.
-
On mine it says <input name "displayName" type="text" placeholderid="displayName" and the rest of it but unfortunately doesn't have "disabled" in there anywhere
-
Strange I haven't seen anything pop up after type="text" but I still get error code (17)

Tried it out, not working for the invalid value issue for me.

Thank you! It took me a couple of tries, I kept getting the Error 17 code but I was finally able to change it. Now if Bungie would just let us change it more than once every couple of years.
