That's 3D audio.
I think you're confusing 3D audio with surround sound.

No it's very different Alright think of this your wearing a head set and someone shoots you in the knee in a game you will be able to 100% know where that sound came from. It's ridiculously accurate right now (except from in the left upward direction) This is a head set. No it might not be sold to the public. We don't know It's just a prototype

Like an astronaut helmet with speakers all throughout? Or you talking more like a six-axis headset that can tell which position your ears are in?
-
The simplest way I can explain it is you can hear up and down

Edited by LahDsai: 3/17/2022 2:55:19 AMBut that's what 3D audio does.
3D audio effects are a group of sound effects that manipulate the sound produced by stereo speakers, surround-sound speakers, speaker-arrays, or headphones. This frequently involves the virtual placement of sound sources anywhere in three-dimensional space, including behind, above or below the listener. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/3D_audio_effect
It doesn't actually do below audio because it's still using it at the bottom left/right part of the system With This you will hear nothing coming from your left and right ears but you will literally hear below you in a program or game This will eventually be optimized for a full vr experience
... you will hear nothing coming from your left and right ears but you will literally hear below you...
I'm sorry, but which ear are we hearing from? I'm gonna need a diagram or something.
