Connections have gotten worse, again - sandbox going back and forth
Disclaimer here, as I KNOW people will ignore anything typed the moment they read something they do not like seeing; I am an advocate for separating pvp and pve sandbox. Timers, damage, recharge, even abilities. All of those should be based on whether they are being used in pvp or pve.
This is the way to keep the fun in both playlists without nerfing one to benefit one and having a negative effect on the other.
Stop being so prideful and stubborn and. JUST. SEPERATE. THEM.
This is mainly aimed at pvp, somewhat obviously.
I do not know how or why but, after every season, connections get worse and worse and worse.
Is it crossplay? Is it just good ol' peer to peer connections? I do not know, but I do know that this is far from "connection based" matchmaking as they claim. It feels as if the game just becomes unstable to more content they add to the game.
All I can say is that Bungie needs to take a good HARD look at connections in this game as it is becoming beyond atrocious at this point. Even for PvE.
Then the second part of this rant.
Some time ago they said they wanted a renewed focus on pvp. They did not deliver, on the contrary even, Stasis came out.
Couple seasons later they said it again, and actually delivered on it.
We all had some renewed faith in Bungie to continue the good balancing. Less abilities as it has been a spamfest. More focus on primary weapons and less special. All good changes for pvp that didn't really affect pve (except for the super regen, that definitely was more noticeable in both game modes)
And now... Here we are. Void 3.0, some really interesting stuff and great stuff for pve (really enjoying it there) but... Pvp, once again, has become a spam fest. Grenades everywhere, lots of ranged melee abilities that all apply Volatile (Controlled demo is what it used to be but now everyone has it).
It is a -blam!- show. I can barely see anything with all the purple happening out there.
Talk about not seeing anything, and this just might be me, but is invis harder to see now due to the darker shade of purple? Some folk just seems to appear out of nowhere, but that might just be the connections as of late as I have seen plenty of folk just appear out of thin air.
Overshields. Idk how I feel about this. It is only 45 health but that is more than enough to continue to make the killing slower against the opponents while oneshot weapons are still a thing so... Primary weapons are less effective again?
What it comes down to is that they are not consistent with what they are saying.
Renewed focus on pvp? Gone. Less ability spam? Lets add more ability spam. Make primary weapons take the lead of engagement? More on the back burner now.
I just want bungie to keep their word when they say less ability spam and more primary weapon engagement.
And I want them to be less erratic when it comes to the balancing of the pvp side (I am specifically talking about what is the focus, primary or abilities)
The connections need a serious look at. It has gotten worse in all parts of the game, but pvp is just atrocious.
afterthought: They keep making a step forward in the right direction, and it comes so close to being a great experience. And then they just dump a lot of stuff, that is great for pve, and I want to keep that part, that destroy everything they build before hand.
The balance is bi-polar. Too many ability spam, we should nerf it somehow... We need more abilities.
