The CE drops are wildly different. Try the new raid, you'll be pleasantly surprised at how much easier it is to gather up your gauntlet/chestpiece/boots combo (the helm is still a rare drop). The radiant shards are now your limiting factor, and those just come with time. The VoG stuff is now just collector's items anyway. Better gear than that is available through the Vanguard and Crucible vendors.
