New player question. Endgame and legendary drops.
so forgive the green question, I'm new to Destiny. I dabbled beta, but I'm just now falling in love. So I see these YouTube videos and stuff about standing in one spot and killing spawns for legendary drops, and that they're (the caves) are being patched. This tells me it's an exploit. I'm not saying it is, I'm not judging, I'm just saying how it looks to me. They wouldn't patch it if intentional. So that being said, and being someone who prefers to feel a sense of accomplishment when I get something anyway, feel like I earned it, I have a question.
I want to farm the rare and legendary drops, but I'm not sure how yet. Are strikes the only option or will they drop if I do heroic modified missions too? I did just hit 20, and I want to keep it going. The other couple questions I have, which I apologize, I just figured I'd ask all at once;
Along with farming, what should I be doing now that in 20?
Are the crafting mats I pick up only for upgrading weapons and armor or am I missing something?
Is the list of jump ships and speeders available at the vendor the only ones obtainable, and do they have any kind of upgrade or anything?
Again, thanks for putting up with the new player questions, I appreciate it. I'm really, really enjoying the game, and I just want to make sure I'm getting the most out of it.

Thrown yourself at the vault of glass. You have a chance at getting legendary guns that do elemental damage. As for farming, knock out ROC strikes. It's repetitive but has a good chance at paying out with the blue engrams turning into legendary's. It doesn't increase the chance, you just get a shitload of blue engrams, which can potentially turn into purples.

Never be afraid to ask questions Guardian!! I recommend that you do the Vanguard Strike playlist. Earn marks. Then do the daily bounties to get your Vanguard rank up!! Once you hit rank 2 go get your lvl 31 gear max it out and BAM!! Your at Crota's End trying to reach level 32!! We all were in your shoes once so I'm sure we get where you coming from!

작성자: Supersport05 1/20/2015 8:04:18 PMAmong the many good suggestions mentioned to your question, I would recommend spending your hard earned vanguard marks/commendation on armor first...not weapons....simply to raise your light level as fast as possible. I believe better gear tends to drop faster, with the higher light level you are. It can be hard to resist your first purple weapon, but try until you have full vanguard gear. :)

Don't bother with buying a ship. You'll soon have more of them than you need. Don't bother signing up with a faction until you're around level 28 or so. You need Vanguard marks now and factions won't get you those. Run the weekly nightfall every Tuesday - the 25% xp boost you get will help a bunch. Run ROC strikes. Take bounties, but only bother with ones like "--- precision kills" or "collect 200 tears/mites/etc" since they'll be faster. Take on the Eris tasks and level up with her quickly (it'll help later).

At level 20 you should probably focus on ranking up vanguard to start. Do bounties, patrols, and strike playlist until you are vanguard level 3. If you like (or don't mind) crucible, level that to 3 as well. Again, do bounties for that. After 2 weeks when you have 200 vanguard marks and one commendation, buy some gear. Same with crucible. Alternately, wear a faction class item only in crucible to level that faction. You still want to rank up vanguard, so you want to take the class item of when not in crucible or turning in crucible bounties. Then use the 200 marks to buy faction gear. In theory you can get all four gear parts in two weeks. Get an exotic item from xur and that helps even more. Exotic item plus three legendary pieces jumps you too level 27. Plus the rare items you get along the way are stepping stones.

Random drops are nice, but not reliable. 2) Don't buy any items until you've got at least 150+ marks. There's a good chance you might get a legendary item along the way and it would suck if it was in the same slot you already purchased one for. 3) Don't buy gloves because you can get light 33 gloves from the Eres Urn quest (start and finish the quest while Xur is here).

Welcome. The easiest way to get legendary gear is to buy it. That means getting marks and ranking up the vanguard/faction in whatever way you enjoy the most. For me that was strikes, patrols and public events. If you like PvP then you can buy gear with crucible marks instead. Quickest way is to stick with either vanguard or choose a faction (by buying its bond/cloak etc and remembering to equip it) and if you choose PvE then don't make the same mistake I did - Google advice was to equip a faction bond/cloak etc as it sends both PvP and PvE rep there so in theory ranks up quicker BUT you can only buy stuff from the factions with crucible marks, which means a lot of crucible if that's the route you choose. Buy stuff from xur! You can pick up legendary engrams in all forms of destiny play but they are v rare (I've played since the alpha and had about 10) and as often as not turn into energy or shards; you will need those to upgrade your stuff but you need the stuff first! TLDR - keep the vanguard bond/cloak etc that you started with and do bounties, daily events and strikes at the highest level you can. Use the marks to buy armour first to get levelled up and then to buy weapons. Once you get high enough do the weeklies and buy exotics from xur.

작성자: PraySayPlay 1/20/2015 7:43:38 AMI think almost everything i got (rare, legendary and exotic armor and weapons) was doing patrols, looking for ghosts and opening chests - including the rare five on each planet (have not looked at videos for ghosts or chests). I think i was luckier than many. Definitely do Bounties. You'll earn much on the way (picking up engrams)

[/quote] Rank up your factions. Vanguard and crucible are an option. Fwc, dead orbit and new monarchy are your other options but these require you to purchase class armour from the relevant vendor. In the tower from Friday to Sundays reset. New ships will drop from strike playlists and crucible. You can also upgrade your rare (blue) sparrow by purchasing an upgrade from Xur. Your best bet for levelling quickly and effectively is to pick up your bounties every day and complete them.

Pretty much what has been stated here. Do the strikes for your level for EXP, REP, MARKS,, and gear. As you level up the level of the strikes. For gear there are a few nice circuits you can do. One on each planet, good amount of chest and mobs to clear. Mats are for weapons. (you will have a ton) Do the dailies for rep and coms. A must. It becomes a job per say. Break it up with friends and strikes for social. For ships and other information, destinywiki or destinydb are also great tools for doing the hunts

Focus on ranking up your vanguard to rank 3 by doing strike playlists and make sure you complete ALL vanguard bounties everyday. If you want it to happen quicker, use the bounty glitch (YouTube it). Also, don't belittle patrols. You get 10 rep per patrol mission which takes about 5 minutes. This is the easiest way to get legendary gear. Ships drop randomly but I don't think that there are that many speeders in the game.

There are a multitude of jump ships and sparrows. Rare sparrows have a legendary upgrade which can bought from xür giving different flame colors. The materials are only for upgrading guns and armor. Absolutely no use for them after that. Anything has a chance to drop engrams ranging from rare to exotic. But strike playlists are the best option because there is a guarantee of rare engrams as a reward. And rare engrams, although small, have a chance to produce legendary or even exotic gear. (I have received Sun breakers from a rare engram recently) plus once u level further u will be able to do nightfall and weekly challenges plus the raids which drop exclusive gear. Good luck guardian

작성자: Tapeworm79 1/20/2015 6:05:19 AMnow that you're 20, do the highest level vanguard strikes you can do. the first few light levels will come easy, rare (blue) gear can get you to 25 I believe. along the engrams and gear you earn from vanguard strikes, you also get vanguard reputation and vanguard marks. it'll take a while but eventually you'll pile up enough marks and you can buy legendary armor from your class specific vendor. a full set of vendor gear will get you to light level 31 then you're ready for everything. feel free to ask any questions you have, I'm happy to help!
