Hell no, people ask me if I want to use it and I tell them I suck with it, but would like to practice. If it's a random group I'll defer to the other 32 if there is one, if I'm with friends and they're willing to let me practice I'll do it. I'm not interested in wasting anyone's time unless they're willing to let me die a few times. Speaking of which, anyone want to hold a sword bearer academy? I want to get better with the bloody thing lol.

Don't put people in a position where they feel compelled to lie to you. Looks to me like you subtlely pressured the guy into taking it, by not giving him any room to tell you "No". You've already said that he was the highest level person in the group....that doesn't mean he experienced using the sword. Especially give the prevalence of people cheating their way through the Crota fight. You phrased the question in a way that made it clear that you expected to hear "Yes" as an answer. So you put him in a postion where he couldn't tell you "no" without losing face, and disappointing the group. Hence he lied to you, to avoid being put in that position.

haha, I've had this before, some 32 offered to do sword claiming he has done it multiple times, even though I've stated I've been doing sword since week one. He got to try it a couple times before people got sick and tired of him dying, then I took a crack at it with my 31 character, did it on the first try lol. On a sidenote, if you are doing the sword for the first time, its not that hard, even if you are not a hunter. Some useful tips for you guys. Don't get discourage if you fail a couple of times, it takes awhile to get the timing down, but with a little practice, its very easy! - As soon as you kill the swordbearer and pick up the sword, be sure to tell people in your fireteam using primaries or special weapons to start shooting right away. - Jump to the left rock between boomers and crota, people with rockets should wait until you're on the rock, then give the signal to shoot. - As soon as you see the first rocket pass by, start jumping up to the middle platform where Crota is, by the time you land, crota should be down and you can get extra hits off of him. - Always use R2 to hit him, on average, 3 R2s, if you start hitting him as he is going down, 4 R2s. - Be sure to use R1 as a way to move around in the air, since it gives you a burst of speed, especially when you are getting away from Crota. - If possible, try to have someone create at least 2 orbs of light on your walk path to the rock so you can get a supercharge hit. I haven't used the sword on Crota but even I understand how the -blam!- it works. It annoys me that people are too proud to admit they don't know how to do something. Just say upfront that you don't know what to do, people will respect you more for it and you'll probably learn something new along the way.

He didn't lie. You asked him if he knew how to use the sword. He said yes. If you've played the sword of Crota story mission at least once, you know how to use the sword. You should have asked him if he's ever used it against Crota before.

Last time I used the sword (last week), I had just come off of a 10 hr (split) session of Dark Souls 2 The first time Crota stood back up I tried to parry him with the slash attack. I was extremely fortunate that the motion took me outside of the kill radius of his sword. Ultra Greatswords pls.

That reminds me of the guy in VoG that would randomly start shooting gorgons yelling 'MUST KILL GORGON!!!'

Anyone who needs to learn the sword should simply go to the fist of crota story mission... Skip to swordbearer kill and pick up the sword and cleared area... face a wall and push towards it now hit this combo RB, RB, RT, RT, the timing is important don't just spam it.... the combo is side swipe, side swipe, uppercut then jumping downwards slash ... as far as I know this is the most powerful combo
