First, I read the year-end update and I'm not talking about the token of appreciation that's coming after the holidays. I'm taking about something themed in game, at the tower, NPC, something. There have been several posts relating to this subject which have been met with hate and typical "self-entitled" blah, blah. Most of us play this game a lot and the game world becomes part of our world.
We meet up with friends, celebrate accomplishments, etc. why not some cheer and good tidings? Programming snow and lights to happen at the normal reset time wouldn't have been that difficult and would've been a treat to the new owners of Destiny. They gave us a fun little item on Halloween and it was a nice touch. I get the world isn't Christian, but many seasons are celebrated during this week, snow and lights are benign and non denominational. And before I get the get off the game and enjoy your family, for some (many) the game is their escape, their "family", some may say that's sad, don't judge until you've been in those shoes where joining a raid or a strike is as good as it get all day.
Bungie has been great and the game has been coming along with the updates/hot fixes, but this just seems short sighted. You want to be a MMO/FPS (I know, they said they aren't, but if it looks like a duck...) but don't do the things that put smiles on the faces that will be here in a month or a year from now. I'm not going to stop playing because of this but it does speak to their point of view.
