This is really sad that gamers are willing to fork out 20.00 to experience new raid dungeons and strikes ; when other MMO offered it for free (cough , cough, World of Warcraft).
I remember when World of Warcraft first came out, I paid about 40 some bucks and lvled up my character to 60. At that time 40 man raids was the end game experience. The only raid dungeon avail to gamers was Molten Core, Onyxia's Lair and Black Rock. which took some to conquer.
As more guilds started to get tired of MC, Onyxia, and BR, blizzard releases a new raid dungeon ,Zul'Gurub. Then came along The Temple of Ahn'Qiraj and soon after that Naxxramas.
So with my 40 some dollar purchase i got to experience not only one raid dungeon, but 6 raid dungeons before blizzard decides to release a new expansion, which btw has more then just one raid dungeon that came with it. Now with my 40.00 purchase i also got to experience a crap load of Strikes (instances) .
You know Back in the days I played a lot of mmos from EQ> Dark Age of Camelot>World of Warcraft and this the first MMO type of game that actually gives you just 1 raid dungeon before actually buying a expansion for it. This is sad and I don't how players here are justifying what Activision and Bungie are doing is okay.

Those all had subscription fees. For 1 year you paid $40 for the game and $165 in subs (thats with the free month) Thats a pretty big difference. Im just saying, your comparison is off and to Bungies credit they are kind of pioneering the new style MMO's on consoles. Mistakes will be made.

작성자: DjNormal 12/12/2014 12:47:25 AMAre you forgetting the subscription fee? I've played WoW since late 2004. It launched with MC (and maybe Onyxia?) Black Wing Lair came several months later, so with the subscription fee, you were paying about $45 per raid tier or more. I used to compare Destiny to WoW by including the premium service fee from Sony and or Microsoft, but really it's not part of what Bungie charges. So assuming you're buying a new WoW expansion every 18 months or so (which is $60+ not $40), plus the subscription fee, it's actually costing you an average of 220/yr for WoW. Destiny so far has charged us 60 for the game and 35 for the season pass. Which includes 2 raids total. We don't know exactly what the future plans are, but there is supposed to be a "comet" (bigger DLC) next September and another season pass after that. So assuming the comet is maybe $40, both season passes are $70 and the game was $60. Destiny is costing you about $85 a year. If you add PS+ or XBLG, it's what, about $160 a year? I'm not going to debate the amount of content, WoW gives you more busywork and quests to do, the Destiny endgame content takes about 1/4 of the time WoW endgame content takes. Blizzard has made instances (strikes) take about 15-20 minutes since WOTLK, so those are about the same (both in time and quantity). WoW is intended to be more immersive, Destiny is an online game designed for the attention span of teenage fps gamers. While people like us are obviously underwhelmed by Destiny's content and grinding system, we are getting a decent amount of endgame content for our money. I like both games for different reasons and I think I'm finally starting to see the light about how Destiny isn't ever going to be what most people hoped it would be. I mean, we can hold out hope that Destiny 2 will incorporate some additional features, but until September of 2016, most of our new content will be doing strikes in story mission areas, but in reverse. Am I disagreeing with you? About the money yes, otherwise I don't think I am. Anyway, play what you love, toss the rest (or get some trade value at a local non-GameStop game store). P.S. WoW is my first and only MMO, being a Mac user, my options were limited. So my overall opinions of MMOs are severely limited.

작성자: Trando 12/11/2014 11:59:31 PMBefore you go making assertions, WoW was subscription based for well over 8 years. That kind of revenue supported free content on a regular basis, Destiny is very much F2P. Now, I wouldn't mind going to, let's say, $5 a month to play this game. Think about it, with 4.6 million players that Activision swears play this game regularly, at that much a month Bungie could generate $25 million a month that they could allocate to new, 'free', and consistent updates to the game. That's a potential $300 million a year that could go to into 'free' content. Just because someone else is doing one thing, doesn't mean another can do it. The $500 million that Activision said is being funneled into Destiny, is actually over the next 10 years, that's $50 million a year. Now just for reference, GTAV cost $265 million to develop, Destiny is not GTAV, I want to assume it's closer to Halo's budget at $60 million. Even a one time yearly subscription of $15 would generate about $70 million a year which could boost Destiny's yearly production budget to $120 million, that in addition to paid DLC. Now, if they want to keep Destiny functional and with the budget they have now, it's not going to live up to player's expectations or the hype. With a small $5 monthly subscription, we could potentially get much more premium 'free' content. Think about it.
