Not sure how Bungie thinks they can get around the law but it is illegal to remove content that someone has already paid for without exposing themselves to Fraud. Now I will assume this was just a mistake on Bungie's part and they intend to address this before someone gets the idea to open a class action lawsuit for something so simple.
Update: p.s. I'm not screaming, nor threatening to sue, I'm merely stating a fact about Fraud law in California and my personal surprise that Bungie would do something that can easily perceived as such.
The Different Types of Fraud in California and Defenses
December 8, 2011
In the state of California, there are numerous kinds of fraud. Grand theft, petty theft, identity theft, embezzlement, forgery, credit card fraud, healthcare fraud, social security fraud, welfare fraud, and tax fraud are just a few types.
Fraud is defined in California Civil Code(CC) Section 1572( actual fraud) and Section 1573(constructive fraud)
Actual Fraud is normally contractual in nature.
CC1572 states:
Actual fraud, within the meaning of this Chapter, consists in any of the following acts, committed by a party to the contract, or with his connivance, with intent to deceive another party thereto, or to induce him to enter into the contract:
1. The suggestion, as a fact, of that which is not true, by one who does not believe it to be true;
2. The positive assertion, in a manner not warranted by the information of the person making it, of that which is not true,though he believes it to be true;
3. The suppression of that which is true, by one having knowledge or belief of the fact;
4. A promise made without any intention of performing it; or,
5. Any other act fitted to deceive.
Constructive fraud is defined as failure to perform some promised act or obligation but without actual fraudulent intent
CC1573 states:
Constructive fraud consists:
1. In any breach of duty which, without an actually fraudulent intent, gains an advantage to the person in fault, or any one claiming under him, by misleading another to his prejudice, or to the prejudice of any one claiming under him; or,
2. In any such act or omission as the law specially declares to be fraudulent, without respect to actual fraud.

-
It should be locked for people who didn't buy the dlc, cause the strike mission is the new strike boss, which you guys didn't pay for. Next week will be valus t'varc. They did nothing illegal. People who didn't pay for the dlc or expansion will be just be missing one week of weekly and nightfall.
-
As someone that purchased the DLC, I do not agree the Weekly events should ever be locked out to those who haven't purchased it. It should not be chosen randomly or rotated every week. It is an unnecessary strategy to bully people into buying DLC. The weekly/daily activities should have only gained a new set of activities for DLC owners, with simple tracking to not allow DLC owners to run 2 activities per week. Everyone who purchased the game, DLC or not, should have the ability to run weekly activities each week, not just every other week. Being that this is launch week for the new Xur/exotic items, Bungie has effectively locked out non-DLC owners from earning strange coins and removing their chance of good nightfall drops. This is wrong

Hey I'm with you about it not being cool about the nightfall. I could care less because it's a game. I'm just going to take my time and build up my exotics and materials. Hell playing crucible is still fun and iron banner is next week.

This post became null/void/irrelevant as soon as you mentioned nightfall and the weekly. You are not locked out of all the nightfalls until you purchase TDB. You are not locked out of all the weekly heroics until you purchase TDB. You just aren't allowed to access it this week.

They didn't remove it...it wasn't there before launch, I don't remember playing this strike...and before you say that it was on disc at launch, again I say to you that it wasn't because we didn't play before yesterday...lawsuit shutdown in less than a couple minutes to type this out...good luck wasting money on the lawsuit tho to be told "case dismissed" a year from now

5 답변This is not removal of content. It is a one week special for those who buy or have bought TDB. Don't fret, you will be getting hit by light switch soon enough.

작성자: ScorchedUrth 12/10/2014 6:24:50 AMSince you do not actually purchase the game but purchase a license which allows you to play said game you don't own the content you're not being blocked from content you've paid for . If your argument was valid at all then people that get banned for cheating would have a grounds to sue and they don't

작성자: kalyuga 12/10/2014 3:46:51 AMget a life. really. if you had read the forum for 3minutes you would know that this is just this week or to be precise every week the new strike is the weekly..you didn't bought this strike so..you can't play it.. what did you thought would happen when the dlc comes ? that they change game mechanics for people who don't buy the dlc,for free ? you didn't bought a ticket and now you have to wait.

2 답변It is legal because if you were to read the Destiny Eula (which no one does), it states that we do NOT own any content and the purchase of the game/dlc is simply the permission to play on bungie servers.

작성자: LONE RONIN2012 12/10/2014 3:41:17 AMHence the new user agreement I am hearing about, so clearly consumers have some legal grounds against them, or why would they be scared. I hope they are still sued, and Activision, for millions. Before people bash on people for this, kids need to remember a woman successfully sued McDonald's for millions for her own stupidity in spilling coffee on herself, off McDonald's property.
