Think of it like prestiging your weapon/armor.
Yes, you've spent so much time and effort into making it great, but at the cost of a few more hours because they will no longer require buckets of AE/AS, wouldn't you want to have yourself a brand spanking new 323 exotic, and hey, why not have a fancy new ability, too?
I've not fully upgraded my Sunbreakers for my warlock, I'm saving the last node for my exotic shard, unless I can get a nice exotic chest piece for my warlock and then tada, Sunbreakers become the exotic shard. Tbh. I don't think that players should have a problem playing through to make themselves better. It's a game for a reason, to be played!
Everyone is always in a rush to be the best and get there as fast as possible. But why? To be bored of it? To have no goals? C'mon now, you guys are R-tards if you want to complete the game just to stop playing it.
So you may have to scrap your progress on your super powerful exotic to get the updated damage you want from it, that's just how the cookie crumbles. If you would rather it be the best level 30 gun out there, by all means go for it.
I however will be deeply anticipating the roll out for my Gjallahorn I just got from nightfall, and I think I may just do exactly what I said. Level it up, and do it again, because that's why I Love This Game! It's replayable! Even if the story is short and a bit hollow. I know I can design bigger and better things for my characters, I can play it for hours and hours and still be entertained.
Who cares if I have to restart my progression, I was probably gonna do it when I completed everything anyway. So... NBD.
I'm not saying it's a fantastic idea, but at least it's there. To be used, and tweaked, and tweaked some more. Besides, who knows; maybe doing this will make you love that gun/armor that much more. These items are more like babies to us. So wouldn't you do anything to make them grow up strong and resilient? Or does investing effort and time again hurt your trigger finger too bad?
My god people, it's a game! Play it, or dont. I see no problems

작성자: Trouserdell 12/4/2014 3:25:33 PMTo my knowledge, prestiging in CoD carries no inherent benefit other than giving you a new emblem (and maybe an achievement). Of course, the last CoD I played was Modern Warfare, so maybe that has changed. If it hasn't changed, and all of your rewards are still superficial, then your example doesn't carry weight. This is why: "prestiging" your weapon in Destiny results in a better weapon. For that reason, resetting progress is cruel. That sounds counter-intuitive, so briefly hear me out. In Call of Duty, if you don't prestige, so what? Everything's the same. If you prestige, you go back to level one and start working to get back to the same weapons. In this case, the choice to prestige is entirely based on free will and doesn't really affect the gameplay. In Destiny, that free will is compromised. You still have the choice of "prestiging" with your weapon, but if you don't, you will not have the most powerful version of it. This means that the player will either run around with an inferior weapon and feel bad about it, or bite the bullet and start over. Either way, the player is unhappy. All but the die-hard should consider this a bad play on Bungie's part when simply adding an extra rung to the upgrade tree could have sufficed.

That doesn't make any sense, I hate call of duty and have never played through it enough to level up into a prestige. I ju st know of the mechanic, and even in COD you still have to reach a certain level to do so. So that makes no sense to me. I'm just saying. It's a restat system. Make it better for more investment or leave it alone. No big deal.
-
Oh, the prestige system in COD works like this: You level up to the max level by playing lots of games and completing objectives, then when you hit max level you have the option of resetting. This mechanic works great. Bungie are proposing the following system: Everyone can prestige at any level without any xp or time put into it (As you can upgrade exotics you have never used)

So I just got a Gjallahorn from this week's nightfall. I just perked into the tracking system. You're saying that it's not fair that I can wait until the 9th and just restat it and then work to fully upgrade it but you're mad that you have to do it? Because to me it sounds like, it's not fair since you've fully upgraded your (insert exotic name here) and you will have to do that over again to be as good as my (insert exotic name here), even tho it took me 3 weeks to get mine and you've no doubt gotten plenty of kills with yours, because if youve seriously invested that much time into making it great and I've only got so few. To me that sounds like a cop out. I have fully unlocked my Sunbreakers. And I'll likely be trashing them this week for the shard for my chest armor, of Xur is selling one, because I hate the raid chest for warlock. It's called compromise. If you want it to be great, make it great and do what every other player now has to do. If you don't like the flavor of your favorite soda anymore, do you call the company and complain about it, or do you just get a new favorite soda flavor? Here's a tip, just get used to the new flavor and be loyal to the brand you grew fond of.

Not quite, I'm annoyed that you will be able to restart/upgrade your exotic without it being maxed out. You mention that you have fully maxed Sunbreakers, good job with that, are you happy that my pair of Sunbreakers in the vault with no xp/not used once will be on equal footing as yours? rendering the time you put into them null and void?
-
The point I'm driving at is this: I understand your sense of being stung. I get it. I have been too! We ALL have! But we got an ice pack with it. And when the swelling goes down, we will have the best ever! But wouldn't you WANT them to be the best they can be? Because if you don't want to reroll and upgrade your exotics, tell Bungie. Maybe they'll give them to me and I can reroll them.
-
Not in the slightest! In fact, I'm happy for you. If I don't get a chest piece from Xur, I'll probably reroll them and have the new improved Sunbreakers ready to be upgraded, for the second time! I love those things, no sense in whining over getting to make them better!

작성자: Budgie031 12/4/2014 8:34:29 AMI like your attitude and I'm sure once all the emotion of this release settles I'll be on Destiny as much as possible grinding my ass off to get my Suros back to the top shelf killing machine she was made to be! Gjallahorn off a nightfall! Good get!
