For everyone who has posted in defense of the police action and managed to misread the original post I will highlight the two salient points. [/quote] Shooting a child who is NOT pointing a gun at you is NOT self defense. I understand that yes if a person was in fact pointing a replica gun at a police officer and that gun appeared real that the outcome is quite predictable. However shooting someone who is not being verbally threatening for the act of holding a gun is not the same as self defense.

You people are -blam!-ing assholes. Have you no regard for human life? This was a kid. He didn't know what he was doing. Kids do not act rationally. He didn't deserve this.

Don't hate cops just cause a few bad eggs are brought to the lime light. So everyone needs to shut up. And who cares about race? Like seriously its a waste of time to care about something that just causes self-segregation. So what if a white cop tries to stop a bad guy or fears for their life, so what if a black cop tries to stop someone different than him too, everyone is SO QUICK to waving the race flag every time, like come on stop, it makes things worse just view everyone as the same there is no white or black were all people so stfu and go judge on peoples stupidity not race or cause they are a cop. Its not all law that is bad, and i'm studying it and everyone ive met are not racist at all but actually nice.

So some dumb kid was playing with a fake gun that did not have the orange tip on the end and pulled it on a cop? What did the officer do wrong exactly? Being a kid doesn't give you an excuse to pull a gun on a police officer.

His parents should be ashamed that their child was such a fool he pointed a toy gun at people like he was going to shoot them. But in hindsight the parents probably are much better people themselves.

Really a terrible situation, feel bad for everyone involved in the situation. I don't know the cops attitudes towards what happened but realizing you've shot a kid would have terrible consequences for most human beings, psychologically at the least. That said this could have been avoided. For one why did the cops pull up RIGHT next to the suspect that may have been armed? Had they been farther away the officer who shot the kid might not have panicked, which is what I believe happened with the cop, he was put in a position with huge potential for fatality and panicked and shot before he could get shot. He didn't have time to assess the situation and realize that the gun was a fake and to determine what the kids intentions were. He acted in self-preservation which ANY person would do, he probably hardly registered that it was a kid before he gunned him down all he saw was a gun. Secondly, why was the kid out pointing a fake gun at pedestrians? I'd like to know what the interactions were between him and some of the pedestrians he pointed it at. Was he playing or was he trying to pass it off as a real gun, most people know you don't go pointing a very real looking gun at people, especially in Ohio, a place where he could've gotten shot down by another civilian before a cop. Thirdly, why don't people care? If I saw a kid pointing a fake gun at people in a public space id let him know he could get in trouble for it, or worse.m, because that gun doesn't look fake. Or maybe some people did, we don't know much about this yet. In defense of the cops: Do we know what was told to them over the radio? Do we know a caller said it was probably fake? Against cops: why pull so close to a suspect believed to have a gun? Poor assessment of situation or lack of knowledge related through dispatch.

Every time they kill a black kid the parents should go on a killing spree and kill at least 80-100 white kids and I bet this would stop. These killing should be labeled as terrorism!!!

Certain cops are just looking for any reason to shoot people. Those are the ones that are usually first on the scene, cuz they rush there. With an I'm going to get to use my gun today mentality. Not purely the kids fault. Did they even ask him to drop the gun? Did they try to determine if it was a real gun? Did they fire on sight? Ask some questions before rushing to judgement. You all ignorant as hell!!!

Dumb cops... Are they trained to be this retarded? If they really wanted to eliminate the threat efficiently, they'd pull up much farther back, pull out their guns, surprise the kid, then disarm him without any bloodshed. Instead perform a drive by, keep their weapons drawn, then try to tactically come around the car as if he were still a threat. Some of you disgust me. How can you say this is justified? Christ...
