Are you a "Glasshole?"
I'm generally pretty patient, but if someone's not listening, not performing their roles, or not holding the line, I can turn into a bigger asshat than I usually am.
How do [i]you[/i] deal with the tensions of the raid?
Do you become a raid-hole, like me? Do you stop and make sure everyone knows what to do? Or do you just say -blam!- it, I quit?
I can honestly say I've had some hilarious and great times in hard raid, but you need a special team to accomplish that. Otherwise, what is easily the best part of Destiny can become the worst part of Destiny very quickly. I've been responsible for some folks' bad times, but how about you?
Let's hear it, guys. Embarrassing and shameful stories about ways in which Destiny led you to mistreat other human beings are welcome. I'll be collecting tears throughout.
Edit: Credit goes to Gruntworks for the word "Glasshole."
Second edit: Apparently, glasshole is used to describe people who wear Google Glass. That's fine, but we're taking it. I've also never seen someone in real life wear glass, and neither have most of you, so let's keep it Destiny-based.
Third edit: If all you have to offer is "it's just a videogame," feel free not to post. Not only are you not original, but this thread is meant to serve as a sort of group therapy. Of course it's a videogame, that much is plainly obvious. If you haven't done the hard raid in full, you don't really know how difficult this game is, or how much time a single weak link can waste. So either offer a good story, or walk away.

It's most frustrating for me when your new but don't say anything, even when asked. Like I'm not gunna kick you from the run, I just want to know so I can take the time to explain rather then have you get teleported and stare at me holding the relic instead of shoot oracles cause you have no idea what's going on. Like seriously, how do you expect to run the raid if you don't know what to do? Just say something and let someone explain it to you.

1 답변Third conflux phase everyone is running for the cave on the left to avoid the legions. I jump in, buddy jumps in. Last guy is just flipping around and can't hop in. He's doing this waltz to avoid being shot while jumping up to get in. I go to the entrance and he hops past me and knocks me down and the legions explode killing me. Everyone erupts into laughter. BEST. NIGHT. EVER.

2 답변I carried my friend, who can speak/understand english, and some of his friends, who can not speak/understand english, through the Gatekeeper/Atheon portion of the raid. It took roughly 2 hours to get through those portions because they didn't know the mechanics. So I have to explain all that to my buddy and have him translate it to them. They still didn't get it. Still didn't understand how to use the relic, or even to open the portals..... Finally got lucky and got teleported every time. Tl; dr Carried noobs through raid, I have the patience of a saint.

I've done so many raids it's sickening so I know ALL of the annoying behaviors that happen. It's almost like a teacher trying to teach class with a room full of ADD students. I know many people cannot handle all of the nuisances that go on, so therefore I want to be the person who directs everything. Some people may be casuals looking for a fun raid, some people are looking forward to learning the raid, some are afraid they'll drag the team down, some people simply aren't good but try, and some of those people are the children of other adults who wouldn't want their children to be yelled at over a video game. I'm not a saint I do become frustrated as well, but I always question if it's worth it to really snap on people. I hate people who cannot control their emotions it's very, very immature. I have never snapped at anyone for simply being unskilled but I will eventually become angry if someone's attitude is becoming detrimental to the team. Some people are blinded by their frustration that they become very insensitive to the situation of others. Nothing pisses me off more than someone who's too immature to change their ways because of their own selfish needs. I will completely torch anyone who's being a "Glasshole" and if our confrontation makes us disband then so be it. I believe that it's not ok to be a "Glasshole" because it isn't the type of attitude that will help people. It's like dealing with some particular women, they'll keep stepping over you until you make a firm stance and tell them that's not how you want to be treated. I'm no pushover. I tell people what to do, how to do it, if they understand their role, and any extra questions. I observe and correct any mistakes I see. The only time when I will ever give up on someone is if they're too under leveled otherwise I try to work with them. The raid is not that hard even people who have never played video games can do it. I've witnessed this before. If someone is talking way too much when I talk then I tell them in a calm manner. I don't take any BS, but I'm not going to lash out on someone over a video game either.

I start to get frustrated when I'm doing the gatekeeper or atheon for over an hour...granted it is on hard mode, but when I'm with randoms and they keep messing up, I just get pissed. I wish I could find reliable people to do the hard raid with and crank it out in an hour....

I try to be patient, but there are so many dumb fools out there that it's hard sometimes. I mean if you're new, listen to what we're telling you. But it's also equally frustrating if you're new in the raid and no one tells you what to do and you get blamed for screwing up.

1 답변Just got taken through VOG. I had a really good team. But I have to say, the hardest part was the cliff jump. The rest of it was pretty easy. .. It was on normal. My experience is not super and I am not trying to be a ass.

It depends on the group. Most are listening, communicating and so it's just a matter of getting folks on the same page and smoothing out the small mistakes. I've dropped group once and that was because it was clear after about 15 minutes that folks were just not ready for Atheon on hard; the biggest thing that made me leave was the 4 young folks in the group must constantly talking about nothing practical to the fight, yet making all the same mistakes.

Unfortunately, there is no shortage of people attempting the raid on hard that aren't ready for it. They keep refusing to believe that you really can't carry someone through the Vault. You can either do your part, or you can't... I've developed a set of rules for hard raider that are dying over and over. After I pop 5-10 heavy ammo synth, or people are being teleported but it's taking 1 a whole clip to kill an oracle, the other guy is not doing his part for whatever reason. It's nothing personal exactly but if you can run the raid on normal without dying over and over , you won't make it through on hard. You have to stay alive. And I mean this as, if your team can't run through on normal and go through whole parts without dying once, or has to use the spirit bloom room for cover, you need to work on that. Practice on normal until it's near flawless, then you'll be ready for hard as long as your weapons are maxed.

I just completed my 46th raid today so I have some insight. When someone refuses to listen I give them three chances. On the third strike I just boot them and find another. No reason to stress as I can easily pick another up on destinylfg. The thing that irks me most is goofing off. IE: shooting a gorgon with a rocket 7 times in a row. It was my friend so I couldn't kick him but I made him buy a few rounds of beer next time I saw him.

2 답변I've only done the raid a couple of times, but usually I'm too into the game to get stressed, if a guardian goes down, I step up my game, protect and revive unless I'm being teleported. I used to rage a lot at PvP games, so I tend to stay away from them and stick to team games where if one fails possibly others can help you out

1 답변I got upset at someone other than myself the other night. I would be relic holder a lot and we would go to the middle and when the timer ticked down and we would scurry- I would be the last to go because holding the shield up and whatnot. Well, it got me killed a couple times so I was like "aye I need a Titan to throw up a bubble so we won't need to scurry" and this kid started arguing with me (wasn't even a damn Titan) that all I had to do was run backwards and I was like "no shit but he'll be shooting at me. You aren't understanding that the reason we aren't getting wrecked is because I leave last" so I eventually was like whatever idc but thankfully a Titan piped up and said he'd do it. Didn't have a problem after that.

1 답변Couple hits away from killing Atheon. Last one standing. Decided to try to rez teammates. Got killed. Had him... had him... Tried 2 more times, not even close. Regretted thinking rezzing anyone ever being a good decision over risking a couple clean shots. Had RL things to do. Never finished. Memory haunts me. Could have killed him.

1 답변The biggest problem with VoG is except the bugs that way to many idiots never learned the atheon encounter hence the challanges add broken mechanics buged portals and superregen mobs urgh.

4 답변The only person I get openly frustrated with is myself. Last night while raiding on my Titan I had the worst trouble with jumping. Took a few tries at the jump puzzle. Then, even worse, I had the relic and missed the center platform while fighting atheon. It was incredibly annoying. Stupid catapult. Still not used to that power. I've noticed tons of frustration In the gorgon maze. People just don't take those wipes lightly. "This should take 30 seconds." The big problem is people have been through it so often now that they forget how tricky it is. Especially for those that haven't been through it tons, or even at all. Take the extra minute to make sure everyone knows what's up. Explain if needed. Take your time. No need to rush. It just leads to wipes. You could hope for 30 seconds, rush, and spend 10 minutes. Or take your time, explain, get it done right, and take 3 minutes. One way leads to frustration. The other takes 3 whole minutes. Choice is yours. And it really isn't worth getting frustrated once you are at atheon. That encounter is so buggy that you could have a team of 6 playing awesome and still wipe several times through no ones fault.
