Bungie has made it clear they will consistently capitulate to the loud crowd of people, however large or small they may actually be, who can't stomach the challenges and idiosyncrasies of a loot based game. To the 1% who worked their asses off before the youtube videos and pushing glitches, I applaud your efforts even if Bungie no longer will. Up to this point Destiny has been an amazing game. Clearly we as players have elected towards an egalitarian system where those who work to excel will get penalized, and those who can't will reap the benefits of crying as loud and constantly as possible.
In the end its just a game, but I think this speaks loudly about the future of gaming and more generally the attitudes of players (which I have no doubt carries over into their everyday lives). I can only hope that this change in trajectory will curtail the endless parades of complaints and rants. Take your victory humbly 99%, and I wish you all the best for your future attitude towards the hard truths and challenges of an unfair world.
(Percents are not to scale guys. As most people have pointed out its more likely a loud minority)
In retrospect
I was pretty salty when I wrote this. Must have been wiping my tears away with the dictionary. Yes, I should have expected this. I guess i'm a purist and a dreamer who preferred the game unadulterated. Hoped it would stay unique; i'm sure it might in some ways. Oh well. That's not the point. I'd encourage people to bring issues to forum in a different light. Let's change our tone so that when these issues arise in the future we might get a proportional response. If Bungie's listening to us, let's start giving them something worth listening to.
Addendums
As to the 1%: there is nothing elitist about determination to overcome a challenge. It's simply a choice you make. I firmly believe everyone could have persevered if they chose to. I'm just applauding the people who made that choice and questioning whether we as a community feel our standard reaction should be penalizing them due to an overwhelmingly negative responses and unwillingness to keep trying or adapting to adversity.
For the people who had trouble understanding my post and choose to insult me and my writing instead of thinking about it. All you had to do was talk to me or ask nicely. My points were about broad issues; the writing was not meant to be explicit. My word choices were perfectly suited to convey my meaning. I didn't realize that good diction would be frowned upon. Here's some bullet points for your convenience!
Bungie will give in to a loud minority.
I applaud the efforts of guardians who were willing to step up the challenges of Destiny instead of exploiting or avoiding them.
The negative attitudes of people unwilling to adapt to the game will carry over into their lives.
These same attitudes will continue to influence Destiny and the future of gaming.
If we are going to choose to have developers change the entire game instead of adapting, Its worth thinking about and discussing so the next response can be proportional.
Hope that helps, let me know if you'd actually like to discuss any of these points instead of throwing easy insults around.

작성자: ZeLkory 10/14/2014 12:15:13 PMLol can you even compared the numbers they posted for the vex mytho with any other AR? Sorry base and headshot damage are not displayed anywhere. How are you even sure they are not completely out of line? Anyway 41 headshot seems powerfully enough you just need to learn to aim instead of writing lengthy posts.

6 답변You'd expect Bungie to choose the 1% of the 99%? You sir have another thing coming, that's just bad business.
-
3 답변Also i think bungie need to realise the difference between a minority of loud whinging casual gamers. And humble mature hardcore gamers who actually ENJOY the game they have created. But then again its much easier to see negative comments then positive cus those with the negative cry louder.

I dont want to put in iver 100 hour in to a game and maybe get a good and rare drop. I want to be rewarded for progressing in the game no matter how much I play. I have a life outside the gameworld too. I think the majority of sound people do and would agree with me? Dont make it impossible to get great gear. Instead make more gear and provide more variety.

2 답변Obviously they never intended for the vex mythowhatever to be as powerful as it was. 34% adds like one more -blam!-ing shot to kill. Shut up.

4 답변Its got nothing to do with "pleasing the masses". Bungie's data numbers have shown how OP the Vex is specifically. I'm all for a challenge and I don't take the easy route through any game. I've played other MMO's with a loot based reward system and in not one of those was any player GUARANTEED ANY drop from a raid boss. So the "1%" crying about an extremely OP weapon being nerfed that they earned seems silly to me. Any other MMO this gun would still be extremely rare a month into the game. Not seen in the wild = no one crying about how OP it is and still under the radar to the nerf hammer. I agree that if you complete a hard-mode raid there should be a reward. NOT guaranteed but a small chance for something GREAT! It keeps people wanting to run through with a group of friends over and over for that CHANCE. Crying about a nerf to something that probably 25% of players have is one thiong. A nerf to something 2% have would be valid.

3 답변I wish there was some way to filter the players out who did not really want to work but wanted to be handed something. When I unlocked my first exotic after jumping through all the hoops I was both pleased and looking forward to the next challenge. That is not to say I won't keep playing but the value of looking for the next great thing has been diminished. Why should my group work out a great plan for VOG if our rewards will only be penalized by those that are unwilling to put in the effort? I have defended Bungie in the past to people who lack economic understanding of the DLC effect on the actual market options. BUt a move like this lack the very same economic understanding from bungie towards the player. The utility market has crashed and left the players in a depression of devalued hours of work for the next great thing. The confidence has been shaken by this forced hand on the market. The redistribution of wealth in the form of "balancing" has not taken into consideration the amount of work the players had to invest to gain the advantage they had. I can only hope that Bungie will remember that an open market will always have winners and losers and it is only the ability to win that will ever drive anyone into the fray of work seeking reward. Cheers.

This cracks me up. Seems most of you have never played a MMO befor. If the vast majority of players piss and moan about stuff being too hard, strong, or taking too long and the Devs cave. This is the way it has been and how it will be. Deal with it.

3 답변all the 1%s such as my self who actually EARNED the vex should just throw a dismantle party now that the suros is the best gun in game.

I feel the same always on aspect of players on their servers that can allow Bungie to hotfix so quickly also allow them to collect data very quickly. The weapon balance fixes before this and including this have all been spot on imho.

1 답변I do hope several people continue to find ways to break this game just like Bungie is trying to waste our time by making things completely stupid. Loot Drops - nerfed you can barely get a darn thing now without being one of those people loot caving, even still you'll get an item for a class you don't use or never will. Auto Rifles - nerfed because crying little babies got their butts all hurt in PvP instead of using an actual gun. To be fair, I'm kind of angry by this as I was a AR set up Titan. I had basically spent all my hard earned time, glimmer, and ascended materials into making a good Strike AR set-up. Now instead of just buffing the other guns that they should have done they nerf the ARs to hell. Specifically guns like Unwilling Soul with it's already crazy low stability is going to be spitting bullets around the targets like an unmanned fire hose turn all the way on with water. So now strikes and all that are going to be stupid longer, unless I just go with a gun type they haven't nerfed to hell yet, Pulse Rifle.

I may be reiterating what many others have said, but it's worth bearing in mind that the 99% of people who have called for nerfs on this forum, amount to about ~1-2% of the actual user base. The rest are oblivious to the existence of this forum. I'm of the opinion that stats did have a role to play in this decision, although it probably wasn't what brought it to Bungie's attention in the first place. I don't have the Mythoclast or the Pocket Infinity as I haven't even attempted the raid yet, but I would have personally left them as they were (or at least lessen the nerf considerably). The Vex in particular is a high-level reward drop and needs to feel as such. The nerf to the PI seems a bit harsh though? Also, as someone who isn't all that skilled, the Auto Rifle nerf is something that would affect me. I've recently started a Hunter class though and am trying to force myself to use the Hand Cannon (mostly to get used to the initial sub-classes' super) and have always quite liked the Scout Rifle. To me, the nerfs and buffs force me to adapt how I try to play the game and try my hand at weaponry I wouldn't usually have used.

7 답변To everyone on the forums..... You guys make my day. Everyday. Every single one of you are hilarious. In life, I'm not the kind of guy who is really funny. Hell, I'm not even that social, and u don't laugh a lot at what people on public do. Whenever I'm having a bad day, I can just turn on the app and know I'll feel a little better reading comments from a raging wah wah warlock fool or a diaper duty hunter douche. I just love it when you guys argue over STUPID THINGS like 1% nerfs!!! Hahaha!! You get destiny nerds defending the game like it's a prophecy!!! Hahahaga!! Your all special in some way! Thank you! For making life a whole lot more enjoyable knowing if I ever feel insecure I can check a arc blade hunters handwriting and feel better.

9 답변What was Bungie thinking appeasing 99% of the community? What idiot's. They shouldn't listen to them and just build the game around the super hard core 1%!

2 답변Yes they are doing these fixes because it is the majority of the community who would like it. At the same time those who earned such weapons are being screwed over. 34% is a bit extreme. But what the hell do you possibly expect? First off, Activision is involved. If you expected to play this game without any COD like updates and hotfixes to come through then you should just return your game now. This isn't a true MMO or RPG. It's a mix of those two and FPS. It has elements of all. Also, if you'd like a real MMO or RPG i again suggest you rid yourself of this game now. Fixes and updates like this are going to happen. And to all those PVP people bitching about the hotfix, think about the other players for a sec. They go in with whatever rare or legendary maybe exotic they have and even uncommons. You walk in with your clast. How do you think they feel. So little people have the clast compared to the general amount of players. I play PVP and my main problem is Shotgun and Bladedancer. But i have been killed by the clast and its not fun. AT ALL. So all you "high and mighty better than cod players" out there can either deal with this or gtfo. They cant treat this as something not even close to FPS. This is how modern FPS works. You deal or you dont. So instead of bitching about the update how about you deal with it or get rid of your damn game and let the rest of us who still believe in the game a chance.

I played Warhammer Online for well over a year. Loved it glitches and all until they started to swing the nerfhammer all over the damn place. The forums had constant crying about how this class or that spell was over powered. God forbid you actually put your big boy pants on and learn to play your class properly . YOU WILL DIE IN PVP ...A LOT! If you cant handle it then play some other damn game. It became so rediculous that it destroyed the game, I mean whats the point of cloth wearing sorceror that cant do damage or a Choppa that might as well be swinging pom-poms. DEVS STOP LISTING TO THE CRY BABIES, THEY WILL ALWAYS BE THE ONES THAT COMPLAIN AND THEY REPRESENT A SMALL PART OF THE GAMING COMMINITY! Real players have better things to do ....like playing the game and actually earning that BFG! Grow the hell up before another great game is ruined.
