Okay. I'm about to fling out a lot of science here so pay close attention. I'll try to keep it simple. On Earth. There are two forces that act in concert to create Gravity. The Mass of Earth, and THE SPEED AT WHICH THE EARTH ROTATES. This speed is referred to as "Centrifugal Force." Have you ever tried a ride at the fair where they put you in this giant spinning tube and when it spun you fast enough, gravity seemed to increase and weight you down making it hard to move? That's Centrifugal Force in action. You are being moved faster then your body is used to compared to standing still. Now there is clearly enough mass on the moon to react normally. The Moon has enough gravity to pull object out of space. Where do you think all those craters come from? There is also a link between the gravity of the Moon and the oceans tides. The Moon acts on the Earth's Oceans causing high and low tides. Also on the moonwalks, the men didn't just fly out into space when they jumped. They were pulled back down with albeit, weaker force. So what the difference between the Earth and the Moon? ROTATIONAL SPEED. The Earth rotates once every 24 hours. That's 1670 kilometers/hour ( 1070 miles/hr). The Moon rotates every (roughly) 30 Earth days as observed by the Phases of the Moon. I could even be proven wrong here and that the Moon DOESN'T even HAVE a rotation and that the Phases represent more it's orbit time around Earth. What does that mean? Something has clearly sped up the rotation of the Moon to ensure it's gravity matches that of Earth's. Don't believe me? Compare every space station you've seen in Sci-fi to the ISS. What's the difference? Those futuristic space stations have a SPINNING ROTATION to them while the ISS is STATIC. In Ender's Game, the people live on the spinning rings that produce gravity while the area in the center of the station has no spin to it producing the Zero-G arena used in the War Games. The book itself explains this. Walking on the moon is very clumsy and clunky. It's like trying to walk underwater in an inflatable suit. If you fall you can't even get up on your own. Normalized gravity would compensate for that.

The acceleration due to gravity is only affected by the mass of the planet and your distance from its centre of mass, given by a=Gm/d^2 Where G is gravitational constant 6.67x10^-11 a is acceleration m is mass of planet d is distance from centre of planet's mass I would assume that the reason all the planet have a similar acceleration down due to gravity is because when the planets were terra formed to make them habitable their mass or radius were changed. This makes sense as a certain gravitational force is required to maintain an atmosphere able to moderate the planet's temperature Edit 1: source: I am a physics student XD
