Public Events - Do material rewards have a limit?
Situation is this: I, as I am sure you do, need copious amounts of Shards. 64 to be precise.
I figured that an effective solution could be to complete lots of public events. Some, if you complete on gold, give you material rewards, e.g. shards, energy etc...
I trailed this over 2 days.
Day 1 (yesterday). Completed about 8 public events on gold. Received 1 shard from tower (first event of day). Also received 4 shards and 2 energies immediately after completing the event on gold. Some of course you get nothing.
Day 2 (today). Completed 12 events. All on gold. Recived a mote of light from tower. Recived nothing immediately after completing, except some glimmer.
Questions:
1. Does anyone know if there is a limit on the number of 'ascendard materials' from public events per day or week?
2. Has anyone else completed 12 public events and received nothing but glimmer?
3. Has antone else completed 12 public events, recieved nothing but glimmer but then starts receiving asendant rewards again? if so, when did this start to happen?
4. Does anyone know of any other way to acquire shards?
As I mentioned, I need 64 just to upgrade to level 29. I can currently get 1-2 each day max and each take 1-2 hours. This will therefore take 32-64 hours of time over 1-2 months just to jump 2 levels.... This sounds absolutely ridiculous. I simply don't have time to do this. Not would I choose to dedicate this time even if I did.

Energy on the other hand I never seem to have enough of them. We need an NPC that trades one for the other or something. But on topic. You are just seeing patterns where there are none. It's just RNG being RNG. I have ground events like crazy before, pretty sure it was over 30. I was just going back and forth between the mothyards at 00:00 and 00:30, and the Fallen Walker at 00:15, and 00:45 for like a day straight, and got squat for a long period, then a shard, then nothing, then a coin, and even 1 shard, and 1 energy a few times, then nothing, and so on. It's just random, but our minds like to try and see patterns even where there are none.

It seems any time I have tried to farm ascendant materials from public events, I'll go through 6 or more and not get a damn thing. When I am just doing it for a bounty or because I found one on accident? I'll actually get materials.

6 답변If you're at your 100 vanguard mark a week cap you can't recieve ascedant materials as a random reward for them til weekly reset. I've also heard they have a 10% chance to drop w/ each gold tier public event that you recieve marks.

I suspect this to be true. Yesterday I completed a public event, Gold Tier and it even said on my screen: "Mordhechai has received Ascendant Shard" but there was nothing in the inventory and nothing from the post master. Where then is this shard I was supposed to have received? Funny thing is, I still get Energies in abundance.

Not that I have any specific data to back it up but I share the same suspicion as you. Two buddies of nine and I play every night and we stopped doing public events after the first because we receive nothing for them. Zip. We always try to max out vanguard ASAP as well so there may be a correlation. I will test your theory tomorrow after the reset. But we are pretty frustrated it stopped giving rewards. I do know that in the last patch or two they made a tweak to public events to show you your rewards up front. So perhaps they made other changes? Or perhaps it's always been there and I just started noticing because I am only just know finding legendary and exotics to upgrade. I only have 9 shards and 13 energy :/

Actually yesterdays daily heroic lvl 28 one took me less than 5 minutes for 2 shards. Of course sometimes it is ascendant energies... But I know it sounds like a lot of work but I took the liberty to lvl all classes. Doing each daily heroics get me 6 ascendant materials. 42 a week. I also play strikes a lot. Usually cap 100 weekly. Buy a vanguard gear glove, needs 65 marks. Dismantle gets me about 2-3 shards. Since I play each of my characters pretty evenly I end up with about 18shards/week from dismantling vanguard gear. So roughly 18+42=60 ascendant materials a week. Also I do weekly heroics and nightfall. I actually solo them last night and got me 9 ascendant shards from nightfall. I usually do everything 3x. Usually I can do them much faster since some strikes for weeklies have skippable spots. But since it's crappy devil lair, it took me 45min to solo.

I have been having the same issues. 20 events yesterday over 3 characters and nothing. Today I've done 7 over 2 characters and still nothing even after the update. I even watched one guy get 2 frickin items from a single event.
