Soo... since when was halos story so good?
I keep hearing people compare the stories of halo and destiny like bungie dropped the ball so bad.
But I played the first 3 halos and I don't remember the story being that compelling at all.
An argument could be made for halo having better characters but the story was just as tangled and unremarkable I think.
Maybe I could be wrong it's been awhile since I played them because my 360 broke not long after I got it and never bothered getting a new one.
I'm just confused because I hear that this game is uncharacteristic for bungie, but I've always saw halo as having amazing gameplay and a story no one ever cared about.
Edit: wow this blew up quickly I only expected 2 or 3 replies, love everyone's passion.
It is quickly becoming apparent that this story meant alot more to some other people than me and my friends, and that's great maybe one day we will be having this same conversation about destiny.
Edit II: extended universe does not count, I'm talking in game story. I would also make this point, the people saying the story will come together with dlc are getting tons of flak on this forum.
Well I would argue those books are just non-playable expansion packs. Why weren't those archs in game if they are so important to the story.

9 답변Oh my God. Halo stories made me want to come home from work, get a pizza, turn the phone off and play. I barely even think about Destiny and haven't turned it on in almost 2 weeks. And it's less than a month old.

1 답변Halos story was awesome and actually had a backbone. While sometimes it could get you lost, you always got caught up and you felt like you were really connected to the characters. That's what made it the franchise it is today (along with the pvp) unlike destiny which is just a mess of a storyline not to mention a boring one at that.

8 답변Halo's story is not 'amazing' and I probably wouldn't play any of the campaigns ever again to be honest. I love the games for what they are and the story is decently interesting, but it just isn't that compelling. And I'm not saying Destiny's story is compelling either...

The largest difference is that Halo was always meant to be an epic, Destiny has that potential But is currently gasping For breath. Potential yes but under developed atm

Halo's story has a goal and some sense of reason. Destiny's does not. In comparison to Destiny, Halo has a better universe. I don't think anyone is saying Halo has the best story ever, just that in comparison to Destiny, it does.

The story of halo was spectacular what are you talking about? The depth and flow of it is unparalleled up to halo 3. The story is loved by thousands of us. The story is far more than just mission to mission. There are hidden messages and radio transmissions, all placed to give us key pieces to the entire story that is going on around us. The book add even deeper element to the story, giving us an in depth look at what it took for a spartan to be. What the human race had to endure. On top of this all, Master chief, a hero like no other, who has no face, he is you, he is us, we are the hero.

21 답변So many of these comments are taking the entire halo universe and trying to compare it to destiny already. Before Halo 4, before Reach, before 3, 2, ODST, all the books, everything else, there was ONE video game. Compare Halo ONE, AND ONE ALONE, to Destiny. As a recap, since a lot of people seem to very vaguely remember halo one. You start the game being woken up by some sort of AI, which you proceed to jam in your head (hm that sounds vaguely familiar already...) You find out your ship is being invaded by some aliens, so you fight them off. Crash land on some sort of circular planet thing where you have to fight bunch more of these aliens. You search for survivors, save the captain, find out there is some other race of aliens thats totally way worse than the ones you've been fighting. Start to blow them all up by activating the Halo, find out that will destroy all life everywhere, decide the only thing to do is blow up your old space ship to stop aliens #2 from spreading throughout the universe. Thats the entire story (very brief synopsis, I know) all the stuff you learn AFTER that, doesn't count so quit trying to add it. The Destiny story is so similar to Halo it hurts. You are awoken by some strange AI that proceeds to enter your head, you find out aliens #1 are trying to kill you so you fight them for a while. After fighting them, you find out that there some other worse aliens (well you find the hive too) that want to take over the universe. So you fight them a while and the game culminates with you (kind of) destroying the source of the aliens so that they stop their spread throughout the universe. Destiny has TONS of backstory already, even without a Destiny 2, Destiny 3, etc. The only problem is that it is handed to the player in a completely TERRIBLE fashion, grimoire cards. You shouldn't have to leave the game to look at them, which is why most don't know any of it, but if you actually take the time to read some of them, it tells you tons of stuff about the game world. Take the Thorn hand cannon for example, there is an entire backstory to how that 1 gun came into the Destiny world. But its not handed to the players easily so most people have absolutely no clue about it. Neither of the stories were that amazing. Lot of people either just have their rose-tinted nostalgia goggles on, or they are comparing an entire decade worth of video games from a series to one single game.

2 답변Halo really didn't have a great story, I only tried the first and it never held my interest. I didn't play all the way through. Which is funny considering that Destiny has a smaller story and I live the game.. It's the game mechanics though I love more than anything. I haven't finished what little story there is yet.
