So the Loot Cave is dead. But already videos are popping up of new caves, new locations, new ways to grind out Engrams. Bungie could nerf these new caves, angering more and more people and causing spawns everywhere to be void of enemies... or... they could revamp the old Loot Cave and make it into part of the game. They didn't envision that exploit to be the way people play Destiny, but with a few tweaks, it could be.
Hear me out.
Why the Loot Cave was valuable:
I went to the Loot Cave 3 times. I spent less than 2 hours total there farming Engrams. And the Cryptarch spit directly in my face every time I went to turn them in. So I didn't benefit almost at all, save for one cool Legendary Warlock Bond which does absolutely nothing for me besides look sweet. But I still had a fun time there. And it wasn't the Loot Cave. It was having 5 or 6 Guardians by my side for when a Public Event erupted. I haven't had that much fun in Patrol mode since the game launched—every time was a blast. My goal was to eventually take part in the "enemies are converging on your location," but the one time that began to happen, I was disconnected and never got to fully experience the all-out-war portion I heard so many clamoring about.
Now when I run patrols, I find myself all alone. A Public Event arrives, and I find myself battling a VIP bullet sponge all by myself. The luster is gone. The feeling of camaraderie is gone. The feeling that I'm part of a team is gone. Just me wasting ammo remains. And the word "Public" in Public Event seems almost cruel now. And my hopes of engaging in a "enemies are converging" event with a group of 6 Guardians went down to virtually 0%. (insert extremely sad face here)
Why the Loot Cave was bad:
People spent way too much time there, earning things they didn't deserve and not enjoying the rest of the game. People would level up way too fast and burn out on the game. Loot Cave "cops" would park themselves in the cave to taunt others, creating a divide both in-game and on the forums. It was clearly broken as it was prior to last week's nerf. Something had to be done.
How to Revamp the Loot Cave:
Simple: Make it a timed event. Having it persistent is clearly a bad idea. But what if, at certain times that people can calculate, it becomes fully active (back to 6 second spawns) for 30 to 45 minutes? Let's say, every 4 or 6 hours, the Loot Cave returns to its former glory, Guardians amass nearby in firing squad formation, and during that time, Public Events spawn every 15 minutes. So you can have the epic-ness of the Public Event and the rewards of the Loot Cave for a brief time. Then, Bungie can make the "enemies are converging" event slightly more likely to happen as the final Public Event to close out the Cave timer. That way, it'll give people enough time to get to the cave, farm a bit and then be ready to fight for their lives.
Since it would now be a Bungie sanctioned event, there would be no need for Loot Cops. Those that were angered by the nerf would have it back, but in a controlled environment. It wouldn't be persistent, so abuse would be severely limited. It would cut out the need to find new Loot Caves elsewhere and it creates an artificial hub for Guardians to congregate at for Public Events. Then, when it ends, you have a group there you can team up with for The Crucible, Strikes, Raids... whatever—like the Tower, but far less boring.
Thoughts?

2 답변Has anyone tried the gate keeper level on venus where of you don't shoot the gates enemies will keep coming as a loot cave? That is a legitimate in game flow if Neverending enemies it seems (I don't think it can be nerfed). I just thought of that now wondering if anyone else tried this before I try it out myself....

At the old loot cave location every half hour was either a defend the warsat event or a mini 'enemy forces are moving against each other' event. The latter is already what youre kind of suggesting.. They spawn from one or two caves with almost no respawn timer and if you sit at it shooting you have a temporary loot cave for the duration.. Its obviously not as long as your 30-45 mins but as it currently stands its almost atleast once an hour.

2 답변Interesting, but using camaraderie as an excuse to bring back the loot cave seems a bit false to me. The question is: were you having fun with the players, or the cave? If it's the players, then that camaraderie should still remain, add the players as friends, get together and continue the fun of public events. You don't need the cave to accomplish that, just a few friend invitations and a headset. I never really cared about the loot cave business anyway, I've done fine without it. You know what might be fun? A sort of global PvE Battleground event. A massive enemy faction army pushing against City holdings that the guardians have to defend. Objective based horde mode, basically. Thoughts?

2 답변OMG that title made me laugh! I could care less about farming. Have at it. I won't be joining you, but that really doesn't matter.

1 답변You are trolling right? There was never even supposed to be loot caves to beguine with. Just another exploit in the history books.

1 답변The old loot cave was good yes. But the new ones as ppl are stating are as bad. Why? Simple the enemies don't drop the engrams as much as they used too. I think they patched the enemies to drop the the engrams randomly ( RNG - based )

1 답변It would be far more effecient if there wasn't a need for a loot cave. Simply make it so the top tier of every Strike, mission, and event is filled with chances for loot. Scale it so that the more you play less of a chance there is for loot but always leave that chance there. Instead of players going through the Nightfall 3-4 times and receive only what's guaranteed that first time and get nothing else, they should scale the loot drops to the level of your foes. I played the Weekly heroic on 28 I think 4 times this past week and I might have gotten 4 engrams total, 3 blues and a single purple. I did the Nightfall and got a nice piece of armor for the Titan, which in my case isn't that bad because I'm working on a Titan. But both of those took an exceptional amount of time to complete compared compared to other more efficient loot tactics and the difficulty was exponentially superior to shooting into a cave. Risk should equal reward.

6 답변tl;dr. The problem with the loot cave is that it was not an exploit it was a glaring flaw their global loot table and engram system.
