Numerous Times. Make sure you have the ability to use all 3 elements. Then adjust your weapons to match the 2 that the enemies will actually use once you know which story mission you are getting. You COULD rely on your super for 1 of the two but it is better in the long run to not rely on your super for specific elemental damage. Make sure you have ammo packs, even if they are just white ones. If you run out of ammo and you are pinned down you want to keep putting out the damage. I use a Scout/Auto with Sniper/Fusion and Rocket Launcher. I try to keep 3 of each of elemental guns, one for each element, so I can swap them out as needed. I am also lucky that they are all level 20s, and except for my RLs, all Legendary. Also, don’t be afraid to swap from a Scout to an Auto or change the scopes to suit a certain combat situation. Don’t forget to use your Rocket Launcher. One short jump and a rocket down can save you frequently. I prefer this over using the MGs, as I can lessen my exposure to gunfire. I also like to hold multiple armor with different gun class bonuses. Sometimes more Auto Rifle ammo is worth a reduction in Armor. If you had a Sunsinger with the auto revive ability I would tell you to ONLY use your super if you are downed.

They are very soloable, some are simply more annoying than others. Even if you have the appropriate damage type weapons. The Cabal ones with 30 psions running around with shields for example. Annoying in that it will take you awhile to pick them all off while avoiding the colossus blasting you with bullets and rockets. Still highly soloable though.

Starting to actually group up with a few people from time to time here and I am beginning to notice a horrible trend. People are using auto rifles or machine guns and rushing enemies like they would do on a patrol. While this strategy may work in some cases, if you are trying to solo a Queen's Wrath mission, heroic weekly strike/nightfall strike, this simply will not work. Certain class abilities, weapon selection and even gear attributes are going to come into play when deciding if you are going to take one of these missions by yourself. One of the benefits of using longer range weapons is that you can begin to notice enemy patterns, they all have them, and certain animations they begin to do when they take damage. When you start adding all these factors in you can clear about 85% of the PvE content that this game has to offer by yourself and can be an absolute blast because of the increased difficulty.

No, even as a team. Every time we play we keep getting the Restoration mission over and over again. Out of 10 times we'll get Restoration about 8, then usually the one where you have to kill the Gate Lord. Once we've gotten the last mission of the game but it was late and we didn't want to go through it.

I saw there was a section on destinylfg for these missions. The first thought that crossed my mind was "Do people actually group up for these?" To easily solo, check the skulls. One of them will have an elemental picture in there. Use that element and destroy everything.
