Edit 4:
Again, this thread has nothing to do with farming. It has to do with the terrible loot system in place of killing low level enemies and the morality of how you feel when you receive something good from standing around doing nothing.

The problem is that the reward system isn't rewarding. You can do 19 strikes in about 3 hours on level 24, maybe longer. You will more than likely get shit experience, blues that are inferior to your level, and the same chance of receiving rares or legendary engrams than the lower level strike before it.
This is exactly like Diablo 3. How? The more enemies you kill, the faster you sift through RNG to get better chances at gear. And even then, you are -blam!-ed out of it. And even then d3 does it better.
People want to argue that Nightfall is the solution. No, not at all. Vanguard rep grinding is a longer term solution. Same with crucible.
Dungeons should reward you according to the time, effort, and necessity involved with getting to the next level of play. I should not have had to spam moon missions to get my legendaries, or abuse blue engrams farming to get strange coins.
Implement a rewarding system that gets you the gear necessary for raids and missions. Make the missions difficult to reward tiered loot, end game gear that don't drop anywhere else. Provide higher experience rates from strikes and PvP. Reward positive win streaks and kills with higher chance for rewards to induce smarter plays.
Until this happens, I'm going back to the moon.

20+ years of MMO experience and you can't see that farming level 3 mobs for level 20 gear is a broken system? I can't think of a single game where that type of farming is rewarding except for Destiny. Most games encourage you into going to high level areas for better drop rates and to farm those areas for end game gear.
The fact that Destiny is the same drop rate for every level monster is what's breaking the loot system not the fact that people are farming. Not really sure how people don't understand this.
The devs did not intend for people to be earning gear in this fashion end of story. Will you get in trouble? No. Are you cheating? Only yourself.
By gearing like this, you are skipping the actual gear curve and content. All that is gameplay you are missing out on, just to stand in one spot, and squeeze the trigger over and over and over again. Monotonous. Boring.
So have at it, grind the cave. You'll be bored in no time and complaining that there is nothing to do and that you have all the loot already. What's the point of playing?
Edit:
Farming for loot to use as 20+ by killing low level monsters that people who just started the game can kill. You shouldn't even be able to get loot for your level from low level enemies. Sure you can still farm I'm okay with farming, as long as you actually have to kill monsters that are close to your level or higher to get better loot.
Drops should go hand in hand with the level of monster you are killing. As your level goes up, so should the source of better gear.

He didn't say you're cheaters, only that you're cheating yourself out of a good experience.
You're cheating yourself out of the little jolt of happiness that you get after doing missions and strikes and finally seeing that purple little orb drop onto the floor.
You're cheating yourself out of the feeling of knowing that all the items in your inventory was earned and for some items you may even remember the raid or mission or strike that you got it from.
I will agree with him, I honestly couldn't give a shit about farming. You do as you please, but please don't ruin this game when you come back screaming because your experience in this game was meaningless and when you have no real connection with the items you carry.
I'll be crushing the faces of Darkness underneath my boot.
Second edit: since a majority of you coming in here keep spouting the same nonsense, just know, us who don't cave farm know that deep down inside you feel dirty doing this.
Third edit: just because there isn't an economy in this game doesn't mean that there isn't events coming up that the cave farmers will completely destroy everybody. Exploiting this method, even if you don't get exotics off of it is still giving you 800 exp per minute, allowing you to fully upgrade nearly everything in a few hours time. I've said it before, have fun cutting your experience short.

작성자: Psyntifik 9/22/2014 6:22:23 PMI do strikes, missions, bounties, daily/weekly, dead ghost hunts and a *little* pvp. Between which, I farm cave for Ascendant Shards and the public event. I don't feel cheated of anything. I've experienced everything this game has to offer just as much as you have. I've even done the raid using 1 piece of gear I got from the cave. Just do everyone a favour and get off your high horse. (And no, it took me about an hour of farming with the nightfall buff to get a single xp upgrade on my gun, how are you doing it in just a few?)

Stop worrying about what others are doing. It doesn't affect you, you said that. Unless you're getting annihilates in pvp by these guys. You'd have a hard time picking them out unless you have a list. (Which would t surprise me if you did, you seem to have a lot of time on your hands to waste on this type of stuff.) And if you don't run into them on pvp, then it doesn't affect you at all. These may also be the same people you are randomly matched up with in strikes and help you out. Stop complaining.
isn't everyone sick of these threads by now? Never seen so many people stick around something they dislike so much.
5 답변Question though... I farm that cave. However, I've kinda given up on the RNG and so I don't really expect to improve my gear with legendaries, however... That cave is hands down the best/fastest way to level up the cryptarch, and if you have black wax idols up... It is a lot of cash very quickly. So...with that in mind, with your 20+ years of MMO experience... Have you ever found a spot in your previous games that you chose to farm for a certain purpose, because it was easy/fast? I mean, is that not the point of farming? Finding the most efficient way to obtain whatever it is you are trying to obtain?

1 답변작성자: joab777 9/22/2014 5:15:20 PMI wouldn't mind a much lower drop rate for lower level mobs, as long as there existed an incentive to do higher tier content to get better loot. If it's a 10% drop for level 26 at 26, then a 1% at level 10 and .5% at 5 and below. That way, u can still get things for helping and playing with others, but u also get rewarded for playing the content u should be. Also, if u r gonna farm loot, u have to do it on a much higher level. Maybe institute a diminishing returns system like others do. I have got 10 purples normally and 6 from farming. 0 have been legendary items. 1 was a strange coin. I am stuck right now w the vanguard cap b/c no matter what I do, I can't level my light level. But I still LOVE the game. Bungie does need to fix it. Even those that r farming, don't want to do it that way. They just know it's the best route to take.

I don't see why people keep whining about the cave farming. I do it every now and then but a majority of the time I actually play strikes, hind for materials and do bounties a majority of my time I am playing the game. The little time I spend farming in the cave does not ruin the experience for me or anyone around me one bit.

작성자: ausher 9/22/2014 5:08:42 PMI played diablo 2 for many years. We would farm the cow level. Its something you should only be able to do once, but if you don't kill the cow king you can repeat it over and over again. Even before the internet farming was done on video games. I'd farm 1up mushrooms on super Mario brothers. Farming is in every online game one way or another and always will be. Personally I don't care about it. Maybe you cry babies will get your way and bungie nerfs it. I also don't care if the drops in crucible is random. The reward is being first place, not a crappy rare or a legendary engram that turns into a crappy rare.

1 답변작성자: Bicepus Maximus 9/22/2014 4:32:05 PMWho cares man. There are plenty of ways to obtain gear and given time we will all be geared up equally. I tried this method of farming and it is to boring for my tastes. Made it 10 minutes and left to do something else. The only people griefing are the bottom feeders that sit in the cave and ruin someone else's good time. The lesson to be learned is worry about yourself. Another person's gear has no bearing on your enjoyment and they are just speeding up a process that we all achieve. So stop being a douce bag and play your game. Who cares how long you have been playing MMO. The only one posting nonsense is yourself. Stop being self important. You don't matter. Get it.

I get it.....loot system is broken...check. However if you are a long time MMO player you know what it is like to camp. In other MMO's you would call out "camp check", and people would say where they were camping. In Everquest people camped Orcs for belts......people camped Jboots for countless hours.....pick an MMO there was Camping, camping for items....camping for currency...camping for named mobs. If they were all full you were out of luck, that is where the destiny camping experience has evolved....no more fighting for grinding spots because everyone gets a piece due to the proximity rule. So your disdain for the loot system is warranted, kill named get good loot, kill a level 5 nothing, get what you kill....but why speak ill of camping. IMO if they had random named spawns in a camp like that, that guaranteed a decent to good drop, that may be a fix. But beyond that....after I am full on VM's and CM's, and all my strikes for the week are done.....I'll be at the cave.

작성자: Hektik 9/22/2014 4:58:17 PMJust want to point out in eq, farmed low level mobs at higher levels because of platinum (money) or gems(vendor fodder) to get better gear. So no Destiny is not the first high level toons farming low level mobs for high level gains. And yes some of those mobs were level 1(cooking power leveling on snake eggs, the good old days) Also 1997 - 2014 is not 20+ years. Do you even arithmetic bro?

If they don't feel its cutting their experience short or they don't enjoy other parts of the game why does it matter if they do it? Despite what many people seem to think on these forums, not everyone thinks the same as you do. That goes for both sides by the way. Live and let live people.

2 답변People farm because of the whole Light system. If you've not hit level twenty you wont understand. Light means you need Rare to Exotic items to level up. I've got all rare armour/guns and Im light level 22. You cant level up quickly to do thongs like the vault of glass without a secure light level. Most people want to get there quiclly before the event closes so they farm, I lnow because while doing levels in Old Russia I saw the fabled looting cave and someone got a leg, Missions were not rewarding and were only doing them for like 100 glimmer so I thpight that I could get things in strikes quickly if I get some legends to get better items. I tried it for 30 minutes and I got aroind 8 rares and 13 greens. Most were bad so I dismantled but farming can and does work OK. Tldr; tough there isn't one :)

1 답변Because of people like you i purposely go to that cave and farm in spite! You people cringe at others for doing what you dont like! Nothing wrong with farming, nothing wrong with me playing a game that i paid for how i want to play it! You will enjoy your game much more when you pull your nose out of everyones bum and stop worrying about what everyone else is doing. Worry about YOU and not ME or ANYONE else!

If I can get the same legendary drops as you, only easier I will. I beat the story mode. I've done most of the strikes. I just want to be better geared when I actually start getting into the hard stuff. I grinded many missions over and over, not the cave mind you(I didn't know how to get to patrols until I was like level 18). And sure it is monotonous, but so is doing the same strikes over and over. So while you get bored doing that, it'll still feel new to me. And I get the same jolt from seeing that purple drop from a level 3 as I would from a level 24 strike, I just did it easier.

11 답변작성자: H1jAcK 9/22/2014 4:37:12 PMI don't feel dirty doing this, and I don't cheat myself out of anything. My usual gaming session consists of real content, capped by a little cave farming. I spent four hours in the Crucible last night, did a bunch of Vanguard bounties, and tried the daily on level 28 by myself (couldn't do it). After all the "real" gameplay that was enjoyably challenging and required a lot of thought, strategy, and focus, I wanted to do something easy and fun that would still reward me. What's more easy and fun than slaughtering hundreds of enemies that stand no chance? Video games are an escape, and feeling like a damn god is a great escapist feeling. tl;dr - Don't tell me I'm cheating myself when I farm, you're wrong. #notallfarmers

I find myself in front of the loot cave racking up headshots occasionally. But I'm already level 28, I grind for legendaries so I can upgrade my current gear. Considering That's honestly the best way to get ascendant shards, because god forbid I get something besides ascendant energy from public events and the daily. I don't even know how long I've stood there nd shot away, but not once have I gotten Bored of it. Hell, I think is fun. I'm not cutting any of the game away from my self, or cheating in any way. I see it as no different than wandering around old Russia trying to find some damn spin metal. It's material grinding for me.
Tl;DR: I grind the cave for things to dismantle into ascendant shards to upgrade armour I got through other means nd I have fun doing it.
