Is Thorn (exotic) Underpowered?
Scroll to bottom of this post. Bungie has stated there will be upcoming changes to Thorn!
With the increase to mag size of hand cannons I was surprised to see Thorn with only a mag size of 6. Being an exotic weapon it feels very lackluster.
Should Bungie increase the mag size?

All suggestions welcome in comments, maybe we can bring some positive changes to Thorn.

1 답변Going from the legendary DEVIL YOU KNOW...to the THORN, the devil wipes the floor with it on the stats with + 12-13 rounds, seems like the devil should have been the exotic, bit disappointing after going through all that crap to get it! Needs to be way more powerful...perhaps the slow reload as a handicap! Looks boss though

Its reload needs to be sped up dramatically, as well as increase its damage in PvE and PvP. The thing has 6 shots but is a 4 hit kill. I have like 4 rare hand cannons that have 8-13 shots and are 3 hits to kill. I really love the look of the gun and the way it handles, but the performance just isn't there.

7 답변Its not the best weapon in pve but its still good. I find it more useful than my monte carlo. But there is a version of thorn that you can find that has a 13 round mag than a 6 round one

작성자: The Tittytastik 9/25/2014 9:50:14 AMI have a feeling this has something to do with bungie not wanting to have the DOT be overpowered on release, so we ended up with small mag, slow reload and unusual refresh mechanics for the DOT. I'm okay with the mag size. It means I can make good use of the bonus damage from the last shot more often. I would rather see the refresh on mark of the devourer altered. If each tic did slightly less damage, but it refreshed (not stacked) each shot meaning you would end up doing more damage in the long run.. if you stayed in the fight and landed multiple shots. Would be pretty cool. Right now my biggest problem with Thorn is when I shoot a fleeing enemy, I have to hope the last mark has already worn off. The effect shouldn't work against itself as much as it does. Still this gun is a nasty mother in threes where the clips size isn't a drawback and the DOT doubles to keep track of your opponents movements. Otherwise it's a bit of a disappointment. My vote: alter the mechanics for Mark of the devourer If not that, reload speed.

1 답변It's the worst exotic that iv'e found. Still good though. I would suggest bumping up the mag size or increasing reload. Considering most weapons do 300 damage when maxed, why does the Thorn get such a slow reload? It's not like it does more damage than the other hand cannons, it should be a bit more in line with the other hand cannons.

1 답변You need more options for that poll lol. I don't mind the mag size, although a buff to that and reload wouldn't be unwelcome. My biggest concern is the bad DoT refresh mechanics AND the fact that it also cancels other DoTs. I play gunslinger hunter and you can't have thorn, incendiary grenade burn, or throwing knife burn up at the same time, only one of the three. It feels really un-fun to throw my grenade and have the fire do no damage. I posted earlier today about this, hopefully it sees some traffic

1 답변ATM I think it is in a good place. In the right situation it is mind blowing in it's power and utility. But it's not a Dps machine. Your not going to be bringing down bosses in record speed or oracles in the vault of glass.

3 답변Ok I don't have it yet (working on the bounty) but I do have a hand cannon with a clip of 6 and if used right 2-3 shot take out a guy. So I am fine with it.

3 답변Yea, it's pretty weak for an exotic hand cannon. My level 19 rare hand cannon has 8 rounds and is more accurate. Thorn needs to: - damage buff, and / or dot buff - increase reload speed buff --- I'd rather have reload speed buff over clip size because you can reload your gun faster in the same amount of time, therefor allowing you to fire off more rounds. - a different gun skill passive other then last bullet has increased damage. ---- replace it with a kill with this gun increases reload speed for a short duration.

2 답변Someone had an upgraded thorn in PvP. It was a two-shot kill. If the two shots didn't kill me the poison would. I guess a slightly larger mag would be fine but anything more is pushing it.

3 답변When it has Final Round why would you want a [i]larger[/i] magazine? Buff reload if anything. It handles beautifully on my hunter combined with a hand cannon reload buff from my gauntlets and Chain of Woe.
