If you're going to make a space game at least try to science a little.
Edit: The traveler did terraform the moon to an extent, atmosphere ect, but it does not appear to have added mass to the moon, which is the only way a gravitational field can increase.
Edit 2: I have never seen the words space and magic in the same sentence so much in my life.
Edit 3: I am not trying to degrade the game nor do I see this as a problem, just curious is all.
Edit 4: This the best community I've been apart of, Thank you.
Edit 5: Venus/Mars has come up alot so I figured I should mention that Russia has landed a craft on Venus and as attained data, although very little. Terraforming Venus is entirely possible. But cooling the planet is the best course. Mars can be terraformed right now actually, it'd take about a century or two if we started today.
Refer to Little Rich's comment for a great explanation.
For a bit more info here is an interesting video on this very subject.
Can You Live on Destiny's Planets? - Reality Check: http://youtu.be/8MCpJsWyhrM
Interesting note: You can see Mars from the moon, go to patrol and look behind you at the giant Space station, look down and and just above the horizon is a big red dot, best seen with a sniper scope!

20 답변What is more alarming is that we aren't -blam!-ing crushed into oblivion on Venus. Considering normal atmospheric pressure on earth is 101.3kPa and Venus it's 9.2MPa That's 101,300 Pa for earth And 9,200,000 Pa for Venus That's roughly 91 times. Think of it this way, every 10m(~33ft) under water is the equivalent of 1 earth atmosphere of pressure (101.3kpa or ~14.5psi) Just being at 'sea level' on Venus would feel the same as being 910meters underwater. Or almost 3000ft. Or 0.56 MILES. There is a reason we don't actually know much about Venus. We can't land equipment on it, because to get it there it is too heavy and what we can get there isn't strong enough to land. We can't scan it from space because of the atmosphere having sulfuric acid clouds basically making it a big mirror. Not to mention the Mean temperature of around 462•C (863•F) As everyone else said, it's fiction. If it doesn't make sense, assume the technology doesn't exist yet, nor would we as a species in our current state have the comprehension to understand it.

2 답변Remember, folks: Destiny isn't science fiction, it's science fantasy. Put it in the same area as Star Wars.

4 답변Maybe it has to do with the dramatically decreased distance between the Moon and Earth compared to real life. Im just saying btw. This game is shit and makes no sense.

1 답변How can I be shot in the face ten times, hide behind a rock regain my health, get hit by a grenade, a rocket launcher, then punched in the back of the head and still be alive and able to kill 10 enemies? Oh wait we are playing a video game...

1 답변작성자: hellcat420 9/23/2014 12:43:30 AMrussia successfully put a lander on venus like 30 or 40 years ago. they got like 10 mins of data after it landed before it died. while putting something on venus is hard, its far from impossible. oops replied to the wrong post haha.

It's a scifi/fantasy game. Magic is part of the universe. It does seem in Destiny they've focused more on the science fiction aspect, but make no mistake that when people give 'space magic' as an excuse, unlike in a game like Mass Effect here it is a legitimate answer.

6 답변since when do you use realistic scientific theories on sci-fi. id say the elephant in the room : is the fact i died in Russia. why the hell would i want to go to Russia? Clearly this game isn't factual.

4 답변The traveller..... have you seen what he did to the rest of the planets, he must of fuked with the moon /thread

1 답변It could have added mass if it wanted to (space magic ;) ). Just because it doesn't appear to have been made more massive doesn't meant it wasn't. The Traveler could have transformed the core of the moon into a more dense material, thus adding mass without increasing size. I usually like a little science with my magic. Good enough for you?

3 답변Do you know how much Hive shit is IN the Moon? I imagine that would directly influence the Moons gravitational pull.

4 답변작성자: Fatality 144 9/22/2014 8:19:57 PMThink about this. We supposedly gave the moon to the hive right? They took it burrowed into it and have been manipulating its terrain and underground. Perhaps they did something to the core to add mass? Or what if there is a mass of darkness at the core that's manipulating the moon? Idk what's going on with it but those are a few thoughts I had on the topic. Edit: There I changed planet to moon. Sorry for the mistake. :)

10 답변So my character is currently a sentient robot raised from the dead and reformed using ambient matter particles - all done by another sentient robot that can fly without propulsion and had the ability to transmit matter remotely - and I use magic, but you're issue is with the amount of gravity on the moon? And I haven't even mentioned the five species of alien yet either...

Edit 2: I have never seen the words space and magic in the same sentence so much in my life. Edit 3: I am not trying to degrade the game nor do I see this as a problem, just curious is all.
While on the moon I've seen enough to indicate an alteration to it's basic make up. I mostly attribute this to two things. The first being pre-traveler era advances in science and secondly and mostly to Hive machines and science. They are clearly using advanced sciences. Rift travel being the most obvious example of this. Wizards flying without obvious wings or jets. The overall lack of aerodynamics in their tombships other things leading me to believe they are applying gravitational anomaly technology to alter not only the propulsion systems of their craft but also the gravity and atmosphere of the moon. Its clear that no information linking that our armor is vacuum sealed nor that we have oxy-systems. Well that's the most scientific reason I can come up with. It is also the most likely scenario since we know that the hive invaded the moon some time ago. Also the shard of the traveler held by the hive could possibly have an effect but doubtful. I also lend to this theory that all of the human bodies (save the dead guardian) are wearing space suits and not armor or normal attire. It is however clear that there has been some form of oxygen rich atmosphere placed on the moon. The fallen encountered on the moon don't wear any protective gear and are unaffected by what should be vaccuum
