K/D scrub or nah?

What is a "good" K/D? I have seen a lot of ppl on the forums boast or generally talk about having a good k/d and what that means in multiplayer. But I'm curious to know what ppl think a good k/d looks like. I usually have a 2.0 or better. But is that a "good" k/d or am I just one of the many scrubs? Leave a comment if you want describing what you think a good k/d should be. And let me know if you just want to call me a scrub [spoiler]also post your k/d if you want I want to get a feel for the skill of this community[/spoiler]

    • I would say 1.0 or higher. If you have more kills than deaths, that's good. I never have a great ratio and don't really care all that much. Sure, I like to have a good one, but I mostly care about having fun. I had a 0.79 in the Crucible and had a blast! :)

      • Anything that's 1:5 or higher is good. Although it's not the best it signifies potential MLGness in someone.

          • In my opinion as long as you have more kills then deaths 1.0+ then thats good...anything higher is extra

                      I tend to hover right around 1 +-.1 in just about every game. But I am very much an objective player. Rush ctf conquest etc etc. Ill die in a heartbeat for the point capture or to keep that flag moving. But I think a 1.5 or better is good

                          K/D are virtually meaningless in this game. W/L is at least something. But with shields supercharges and special wepaons and such...not to mention unbalanced weapons in Iron Banner. Your K/D has been "engineered" to be artificially low in this game. I e..you have shields when you run into your first encounter...but they take just long enough to recharge that a smart enemy can kill you first...therefore enforcing an artificial K/D of roughly 1.5 Couple that with the fact that noobs will be hitting you with supercharges or special weaposn just to kill you and you'll be lucky to maintain a positive K/D - if you are actually going for the objectives.... If you are NOT going to go for the objectives..then you may be able to artificially boost your K/D above average levels... But so what?... You probably arent' going to be doing much to help your team out unless you are moving around the map a LOT which most ppl won't be able to do AND maintain a high K/D ratio. A better way to think about it is...Are the kills you are getting allowing you to win against the enemy or just get a few random kills without dying? I'd personally rather play with ppl who were trying to help win and capture objectives...rather than those worried about their KD in a game where it's virtually meaningless...just because they have it stuck in their heads that KD is all that matters...while they cause their team to lose every match...do you see where I'm getting with this? Just do your best and try to win...That's how this game was designed to be played...KD is just a side effect of gameplay. I'll be more impressed if you have a higher W/L and Capture and Hold ability. Who cares if you can get a high KD by sniping across the map while not helping your team to hold any points? You aren't playing the game or helping your team to do anything meaningful by playing like that.

                          • A good average k/d in theory is anything above 1. You can't hurt your team then. 2 means your really good. And 3+ means you mlg. I hit about 2 in Cod and in the Beta was around 1.85.

                              • I will also say in team deathmatch type games if everyone on your team has over a 1.0 k/d spread, your team will never lose... so I'd say anything 1.1/1 and up for those game types.

                              • My Halo 4 k/d is like 2.3 i think. And my Reach used to be almost 2. I have high standards with k/d though. Personally i count 2.5+ as a good one

                                  • My K/D on the beta was 2.05 at one point it was 2.97 but that was nearer the beginning, my halo K/D is usually above 2.5 though. however I will class 1.5 to be a good K/D because that shows they know how to hold their own in the game but just 1.00 + is decent.

                                    • I had a kd of 215.0 in pve (story) is that a scrub lol my kd on PvP was like .95 I didn't play much and I was getting use to the to it no excuse tho.

                                        Anything above 2.0. Mine during the beta was 2.39 I believe. In time I would have easily gotten a 4.0, just needed some time to get my bearings. I'll make sure that's the case come full release.

                                          It all depends on the game types you play. I used to play a ton of 4v4 slayer game types and my ratio was just below 2:1. I have now started to play more big team and objective games and focus largely on being a driver/wheelman. I get a ton of assists, but not a lot of kills, so naturally my K/D spread is much lower. I still normally average just over a 1:1 ratio. You could also be a good supportive player and get more assists than you do kills. To me if someone gets 5 kills and 10 deaths, but has 15-20 assists, they're still good to have on the team. I would say in most cases as long as you are over 1:1 you are fine (particularly in slayer game types)... it means you are killing more than you are being killed and not being a net negative to your team. Playing with an organized group vs randoms can also drastically change your K/D spread. My ratio is normally at least 1 kill per death higher if I am in an organized group as opposed to playing with randoms... but I am much more a team oriented player than I am a lone wolf.

                                        • Personally I think K/D only matters if you play as a slayer just going for kills. But for support type roles thier K/D is gunna suck because they're putting thier life on the line to help teammates

                                          • I have an overall KD of 1.77 or somethin like that. Most matches though, if its not lagging and im not on First Light, it ranges from 2-4. Id say thats a little bit above average
