Not just Christianity, but all religions.
Religion is something kids mostly learn at birth, they learn what to love, like, hate, and dislike. Isn't that brainwashing?
1. Religion removes free will and free speaking-
Many religions have a set of rules, do's and and don'ts. This is brainwashing because it is telling children TO NOT think for themselves and learn by hatred or not trying something.
2.Definition of brainwashing
: a forcible indoctrination to induce someone to give up basic political, social, or religious beliefs and attitudes and to accept contrasting regimented ideas
2
: persuasion by propaganda or salesmanship
— brain·wash transitive verb
— brainwash noun
— brain·wash·er noun
3. Punishment
Pretty much all religion has a set of rewards and punishments.
Reward: Happiness in the afterlife/rebirth/enlightenment/Heaven.
Punishment:Hell/Death/etc...
Reaching Heaven/Enlightenment/Rebirth/Etc,is by being a loyal follower to the religion.
Reaching Hell is mainly forced onto different religions or people with no religious belief.
4. Religious books are copied
They're copied which also means they are most likely modified to fit the persons views. God, in the original Bible, could've said homosexuality is good. Maybe Jesus didn't actually die, but since it's been heavily copied its also heavily modified.
5. No TRUE Proof
Brainwashing also focuses on making other believe fake beliefs. There have been no TRUE account of seeing God/Jesus/Buddha/Mohammad/Satan/etc, yes there are books, but they could've been made by anyone.
What do you guys think?

So if someone accepts it, adopts it and follows the religious moral code, they aren't being brainwashed since they are choosing to believe it. 2.There's nothing forcible about a set of beliefs. You aren't going to be infected with Christianity and start hating gays the next morning. The only thing forcible about religion is when people try and impose their belief onto a system or person(s) so that it impedes on the free will of others. There's a difference between "spreading the good news" and trying to make Islam the state religion. 3.The legal system has punishments too... Just saying. Think of hell as a prison for your soul. 4.This is getting into the territory of "which religion is authentic vs the rehashed version?" I think I get what you're saying here though and I think people need to have a different view on religion. I see it this way. We all have our own prerogative to subscribe to whatever belief we want. That being said, I could say that all people who prefer to buy cars over minivans are brainwashed into thinking this this or that. 5. This true proof argument can be applied to practically anything if you get the wording right. Can you provide proof that any of us are even self aware for example. (Just watched transcendence. Loved it) Anyway a religious person could easily say that their holy books were inspired by the word of God. We don't have any "true proof" that they are right or wrong. That's why they have FAITH in what they believe. That's an important word that seems to be overlooked in a lot of these pointless arguments btw. Hope this helps.

The further the spiritual evolution of mankind advances, the more certain it seems to me that the path to genuine religiosity does not lie through the fear of life, and the fear of death, and blind faith, but through striving after rational knowledge. 작성자: GiantDad 9/2/2014 5:32:56 AMNo. A normal, healthy theistic lifestyle will not compromise your morality/free will. I went from being Mormon to an atheist, as did my sisters. A radical lifestyle, however, does. The Westboro Baptist Church is a prime example within the US.

11 답변But of course, raising your child to be an atheist wouldn't be brainwashing, amrite? Just because mom made you go to church that one time doesn't mean she tried to turn you, the freethinker, into a sheep.

3 답변Technically teaching them anything will cause them to reject foreign concepts. Let's just not teach them anything in that case.

1 답변Aren't we all brainwashed to believe that having a job that you hate just to get pieces of paper to support yourself is the road to success? Or finding a wife, having a child then retiring is the only path to happiness?

It can be done incorrectly. It should just be set up as an ideal that people can look at see universal good. Unfortunately, some sects are doing it wrong. Doing it right: Dalai Lama(Tibetan Buddhism) Peacefully trying to gain Tibet's independence while meeting with world leaders on human rights. Doing it Wrong: Westboro Baptist Church(Christianity) Routinely protests against equal rights and I can't even think of words to describe the rest of what they do. ISIS/ISIL(Islam) Ignoring the peaceful inner struggle part of jihad and thinking that beheadings and massacres are what God wants. People like Pope Francis and the Dalai Lama make me think religion isn't doing all harm.

The saddest part about this thread? While everyone talks about love when discussing their faith. Yet not one of the faithful condemns the deplorable treatment depicted in the video in my earlier post. Because one can't condemn what they actually condone. #DearGod
