Anyone remember that quote? What ever happened to that? In the beta, countless times I drove my sparrow off a ledge to an area that looked explorable, only to find that going there just killed me. It felt like all of Old Russia was the size of Forge World from Halo. I hardly considerate it to be worthy of the "Open World" title. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED the beta. The only thing that disappointed me was the explore mode. I expected to be spending most of my time in the game on explore, just, you know, exploring, but the gamemodes' name isn't really true to itself when you know the whole map of Old Russia after about an hour of gameplay. The "open world" in Destiny is a bit disappointing. I doubt those small areas that are blocked off will make the area feel much bigger, either. Anyone feel the same?
Edit: I made this thread right after the beta, before the game came out. Everyone got mad at me and freaked out. They all claimed, "It was just a beta." No-one really gets game betas that are available two months prior to release. Those aren't betas, they're demos. No-one believed me. Then, the game came out. And everyone began praising this thread. Funny.
I believe that if Destiny wasn't overhyped/over-advertised, AngryJoe wouldn't be flipping out. It is a GREAT game, it just doesn't live up to its pre-game hype. $1,000,000 was too much of an advertising fund, Activision.

2 답변I agree and everyone who keeps saying "it's just a beta" and "there was more to Old Russia just wait" need to realize that we had the map, it's not like they were blocking off giant plains and expansive landscapes, they were mostly caves and dungeons (which are still cool) and there is no way (I would love to be proven wrong come launch day though) that Bungie will add enough to make it (Russia, anyway) feel "open world" in the sense that the quote implies.

2 답변Let's get to the bottom of this quote 'you can climb that mountain over there' Take a look at my topic: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/67854571/0/0 Hopefully we can sort this out while having some fun.

1 답변Bungie has a big thing about keeping it's promises. I doubt they would just bold face lie to everyone. If they say its playable then I will go off that information until stated otherwise by Bungie. Take a moment to think about what EA did. They lied their asses off and got sued for it. I really doubt they would allow themselves to get put into a position where they could literally lose their entire company and any credibility they have with consumers by lying about the state of the game. It would be a very bad choice for them to lie to us. On top of everything who do you think is going to lose out when they release such a small game? Word will get out, people will be mad as hell and cancel their preorders and even go as far as to seek a refund. When that happens Activision will likely fall back on the money and Bungie will go bankrupt. So again I doubt the beta will be anything comparable to the full game. It will be good or ill be getting my money back.

Well they did close off areas of the game such as kings watch, even though some people glitched through. Maybe just for the beta, they restricted where we can go. I really wouldn't be surprised if that was a lie though. Are they going to have loot over that big of an area? Or just emptiness?

2 답변The only response I have to this is, when you did the strike in the beta, there was an underground area where there were a ton oh hive. This area was blocked off by them placing a rock that blended perfectly with it's surroundings and looked just like a normal dead end. This has me thinking that there were a ton of areas where they did this and just made it look like part the explore map when it was really just parts used from the whole map to block off areas. Example: that car you saw by the enemies at the spawn, yea remove that and you have an entire underground area.

작성자: ashdelete 8/15/2014 5:18:26 PMHe was only saying that the mountains were real geometry as opposed to a 2D picture. In the pre-alpha build they probably didn't have boundaries set up, and that yes he could've walked over , but they obviously decided that they wanted a certain level of environmental detail that they wouldn't have been able to get with huge maps.

10 답변I don't remember that quote. The only quote I remember is what the Bungie guy says around the 2:18 minute mark on the video above, "So, all of THIS is playable space...that we hope to ONE day get to send you to. It is all real geometry. You could go there, we could go there now..."

4 답변There is a lot of areas that weren't open in the Beta, and also many ares that either weren't found, or were not explored because people couldn't make it past the uber high level enemies.

2 답변In the beginning Bungie said each map is about the size of the entire game of Reach. I was amazed to hear this, but like many others misguided because there is much more to see in those levels than you can actually play. Bungie meant the playable areas of Reach, the small pathways you take through the game. And not the entire scenic areas we all remember from playing those games. I still liked the beta very much, I was simply thrown off a little by the scope. I thought I was swimming in the ocean, but it turns out I'm at Sea World jumping from tank to tank.

3 답변Nah, man this game is awesome to me. Lol. But aye, if you don't like it because you can't drive to the bottom of the ocean, don't buy that trash then.

10 답변You need to buy the season pass and sacrifice a goat by the Hollywood sign and post it in YouTube with exactly 5,839,549 frames after getting to level 10 exactly and giving activision a blow job under a full moon in the middle of the Atlantic in order to climb that mountain

http://www.joystiq.com/2014/08/15/discussing-destinys-first-dlc-its-got-its-own-story/ If you read the WHOLE article it sounds like they'll add whatever they damn well please when they damn well please. So that could be expanding areas, enemies, loot, story, strikes, and public events. Like they said in the infamous video the geometry is there. They just need a reason to send you there.

7 답변People saying "it's a beta, they will add more to Russia later", they won't. We have gone into the areas that are locked up and it isn't very big. They won't add anything more to old Russia. I hope the other maps will be larger than old Russia.

4 답변I think this video does a good job of addressing why you shouldn't be concerned about lack of content in Destiny.

6 답변If you think it is really small. Don't use your sparrow at all in the game then rethink about how small it is...

16 답변Sadly I do remember that quote clearly. Sadly, although I still have extreme hype for the game, my hype has diminished some after seeing the extent of the "explore" mode. I'm not disappointed at the seemingly small size of Old Russia. In fact that was what I had expected it to be like for a long time. But then they played the demo and said "you can climb that mountain over there," and I started doing backflips and cheering. But then there came the Beta. . . . It's not the fact it that wasn't as big as I thought it was going to be. It's the fact that they practically lied to us, raised my expectations and excitement, and then brought them both crashing down in one stroke.
