The name of the teen has not been released pending notification of family, said Houston County Coroner Danny Galpin. “No foul play is suspected,” Galpin said. Warner Robins police are on school grounds investigating. An ambulance was also on scene. The body was discovered about 9:42 a.m. Galpin declined to say where in the playground the body was found. Beth McLaughlin, school system spokeswoman, said that the body was discovered as students were being led to recess. McLaughlin said two children said they saw "something on the playground." She said that two-first grade classes were coming out for recess when the body was discovered. A teacher turned the students around and directed them immediately inside upon the body’s discovery, McLaughlin said. "All of the first graders' parents were contacted to let them know that their child's classroom was the first to go to the playground and that they may have seen the individual's body," McLaughlin said. "We will have counselors and other staff members at school tomorrow with any children who want to share their feelings." Galpin said he thinks a teacher may have found the body but does not know for certain. An autopsy is expected once the body Tuesday, Galpin said. The body was kept on school grounds as police investigated but has since been removed, Galpin said. McLaughlin said children cannot see the playground from the classroom. Portables block that side of the building, and there are no children in the portables, McLaughlin said. Also, the only door with a view of the playground has been covered with paper, she said. School principal April Strevig sent an automated message to parents of students at the school. The message stated that an adult had come on to the playground during the weekend and had “suffered a tragic death.” Here are excerpts from the message: “The school immediately executed a code yellow. All students were safe, and their safety was never compromised. We have counselors and staff on site to help your child if they feel the need to share their feelings. “At this time, all students are in class and regular activities are taking place under a limited transition plan. “Law enforcement was notified and is conducting an investigation. They will let us know when that investigation is complete. Once they do, we’ll resume the regular schedule at school.” A code yellow means students are involved in normal school activities but with limited movement and no one is permitted to go outside, McLaughlin said. The only unlocked exterior doors are at the main entrance, which is in front of the main office, she said. “We’re keeping it as normal as possible,” McLaughlin said. “So students are in class and regular activities are taking place. But the exterior doors are locked, and they are not going outside.” McLaughlin said the school will dismiss for the day on its regular schedule at 3:30 p.m. In a news release issued Monday afternoon, police stated that a 19-year-old male was found dead near the school, that no foul play was suspected "at this time," and that "more information will be available pending the results" of Tuesday's autopsy. Antonia Simmons, who has one child at Lake Joy Primary and another child at adjacent Lake Joy Elementary School, said she was at Publix when she heard the news of the incident from a store employee. She later found the school’s automated message on her home phone when she returned. But she first went to the schools to check on her children and was permitted to talk with them. Her children were not aware of the incident. “I love the fact that they kept it normal,” said Simmons, who was pleased with the school system’s handling of the situation. “I don’t think they could have done anything better.” Chelsea Mattison-Stevens complained that she heard about the incident first from the news media. She later received the automated message from the school principal. Her daughter was not among the students who head to recess when the body was discovered. “I’m glad they’re worried about the child’s safety, but I wish it could have come sooner, and I wouldn’t have had to find out by Facebook and the news first,” she said.[/spoiler] From rumors, the dude did it because he tried to bang some 14 year old (he was 19...) and she rejected him. So, discuss, I guess.
