So I was looking at the bladedancer tree again today and took special notice of the jump abilities. As you may know, "Blink" is the 3rd unlock down the jump tree (second tree) and it states, "A short distance teleport that replaces Double Jump". Just based off of the beta, there were beacon quests and other areas that actually REQUIRED us to utilize our double jump - one of the chests I found, for example, was behind a fence that was taller than a single jump.
I'm aware that we can switch focus and go to either Gunslinger or another Bladedancer spec right off the bat, but I'm wondering if this makes "Blink" nearly useless in a "casual" PvE setting, making it a PvP talent. As the goal of the Bladedancer is to chain attacks one after another, this would allow the Bladedancer to close the gap between another player or two and keep the Arc Blade alive. While this also has the same benefit in a PvE setting, I just don't know if we'll be able to "get by" without the versatility of the double jump.
Thoughts?
I guess this depends on how blink actually works. It sounds like it's just going to be a straight, forward teleport with no height. But then again, we haven't been able to test it. If you can "aim" blink to teleport up and forwards, then it might actually prove to be pretty amazing.
Personally though, I prefer PVP to PVE, both are fun, but I just like the more competitive aspect of the game. So if blink turns out to be just a quick, forward dash, then you're right, it will be very PVP focused.
