To Bungie Employees, RE: Cross-Platform Play
Dear Bungie, I understand your decision to decide to not allow cross platform play, especially when it comes to competitive multiplayer, and I realize it may be too late to change course this late in the release cycle. It seems the disadvantage is inherent in a very specific scenario, as far as has been explained, and that a player's TV/display might have just as big or more an impact on swaying the outcome. Given that, is there any reason you couldn't have let the community comment on the idea?
Personally, if a few deaths in competitive multiplayer was due to someone else having slightly higher resolution than I did and it bothered me that much, I would gladly upgrade. But more important to the spirit of the game, I would be more than happy to tolerate that freak anomaly of a possibly imagined disadvantage to get to play with all of my friends. That would be the greatest gift of all!
How about you community? Is a possible chance of a very specific slight disadvantage too big a price to pay to get to play with all of your friends, regardless of console?

I do hope Bungie watches the forums and considers this seriously. Up until today my husband and I were really exciting hoping we would get to play with each other on Destiny. It would be one of the very few games we both enjoyed enough to play together. He prefers PC gaming where as I enjoy my consoles. We are both really disappointed amd kind of sad that we won't be able to do this. We have a lot of fun gaming together since he works so much. Its a nice time when we can do things together. I really hope Bungie will reconsider this.

This is disappointing to say the least. I am a multi-platform house 1x XboxOne and 2x Xbox360. Many friends have one or the other but not both. COD Ghosts did the same thing and its ridiculous. If TitanFall can do it so can Destiny....one more game I won't be buying, a shame too as it looks like it could be good

1 답변I believe the biggest issue is the way certain code structures work with the architecture of the PS 4/XB1. And that will not make them compatable at the server end. Kind like trying to stick a porsche gear box into a ferrari.

Better hardware between generations offering a theoretical slight advantage is a ridiculous reason not to include cross platform. I play on PS4 but frequently return to PS3 when my friends are on because none of them have made the switch yet, and I haven't noticed a difference in my performance. Television size and resolution are much bigger balance shifters. I play on a 32" SD, but my boss plays on a 72" ultra HD. This is where the sniping discrepancy in his example will really come into play. Creating a truly equal playing field is impossible, and I'm sure most of us would be happy to accept a (mostly imagined) small disadvantage if it meant we could play with our friends. At the very least, the cooperative portions of the game should be cross platform. Hardware advantage isn't going to bother many people when they're all fighting the same enemies together.

1 답변While reading your post I went another way with it, keep PvP the way it is, and make the story cross platform. I know it sounds strange, but this is the best of both worlds. We can play with all our friends and at the same time when its time to enter the crucible, we can play with our clan mates.

The resplution part is a flat out lie... Come one, take a lok at the pc world...... A 7 year old windows xp can play on the same server and at the same time as a w7/8 pc thats new. Whit difrent hardware, drivers, fps, ressolution and os........ Think its a:Sony ore b: Microsoft foult... Even the dlc is not a problem.... I can still play wow/aoin/swtor whit frends Even if the numbers of xpention paks dont match upp.....
