@7:14 in the video Deej talks about this.
QUOTE: "If you enter competitive multiplayer, we're going to level the playing field." So, you're playing the game and you have better weapons. You have the things that make you more powerful. When you enter the arena and you're going to do battle against another guardian, we don't want the person with the best gear or strongest weapon to win. We want the best gamer to win. So it's still going to be a skill based game."
It's all about the skill if the player, right? So, I can go into PVP with low level garbage gear and complete (beat) with players with the very best exotic and legendary gear?
So going forward, is Bungie sticking with this plan?

2 답변Well I heard there was like this baddass weapon in alpha and if you got it, you wrecked Shit with. So that sounds like the weapon you have does matter.

19 답변작성자: Ethsentray 7/6/2014 6:25:10 PMBasic equipment bonuses still apply. (intellect, discipline, strength, ect.) I'm sure that exotic bonuses will as well. (invisible when ADS, shoot ammo box to obtain, ect.)

I think he meant that the weapons will do certain amount of damage and armor will give a certain amount of protection but the weapons abilities will be used and the stuff besides protection will be used on armor such as light.

10 답변작성자: M-AY-DA-Y 7/6/2014 8:53:53 PMThere are a lot of misunderstandings about how weapons will balance in PvP. To my knowledge, here's how it will work: if you look at a weapon you will see a number or meters displaying it's stats. Impact, rate of fire, range, reload and recoil I believe. The gun also has a number for attack. The attack number will not carry over, everything else will. (This isn't outright confirmed by bungie, but easily the most plausible explanation out there) So say you had a low level assault rifle and went against someone with a higher level assault rifle that has a higher attack stat, but the other stats are identical - you would both do the same amount of damage, your guns would be essentially the same. Where this would change is if you had two assault rifles but maybe one has a higher rate of fire or more impact, then one would possible be better, but for the most part this system balances weapons nicely. In addition, Bungie is well known for their excellent matchmaking system, so likely you won't face anyone with way better gear than you anyway. There is still an advantage to having rarer gear because they will have passive bonuses. For example, the exotic sniper rifle closing time turns it's wielder invisible when they aim down sights. The exotic auto rifle red death restores your health when you kill someone. Sorry for the long post, hope it helped some of you.

6 답변Hopefully they will have a PvP stat page to help you decide your loadout for PvP. So we can see what weapons and gear works best with the level balancing that is done in PvP.

1 답변I think it is only damage as some folk have said, everything else stays the same. My Sahara was still the bullet consuming killing machine that it has always been.

Ok, I think the damage levels of weapons are based on type, reload speed, and impact without looking at the level of the weapon itself or it's base damage. So weapons with similar stat bars are going to do similar amounts of damage no matter the rarity. The only difference I can see for people with exotics or legendaries is the bonus effects such as being cloaked while scoped in, potential health regain and increased reload speed for the red death, explosive rounds for the thunderlord, and a rocket launcher that spawns turrets at the sight of impact. Another cool feature I saw was a shotgun from dead orbit that could become automatic. I don't think these abilities alone will give people too much of an advantage and in the end it depends on the skill of whoever is using a weapon whether it be white or gold.

4 답변작성자: Pheint3d 7/5/2014 4:06:19 PMI'm not for certain yet still. But the leveling field of weapons and armor goes for the raw damage and defense. Which makes sense. But also, our gear gets bonuses which essentially are part of our build. Which hopefully gets clarification soon. Everyone seems in agreement we keep the bonus, but I still want to hear a bungie rep confirm it, if it has been done someone post the link and OP put it in your thread so it stays on top. Reason why I think it's important is because sometimes you get crap gear But the bonus may be real high for a certain stat, say cool down is enhanced for example but the def rating is horrible. Since in PvP def rating doesn't matter the armor is still useful in PvP. You won't junk it right away. Balance wise, if we do keep our bonuses, I'm sure an easy fail safe to keep balance is to set a cap for how much our bonuses can add up to. That way you never get to the point of anything ridiculous where a grenade can be thrown every 2 seconds or less (exaggerated but you get the point). And for exotics, I'd have to assume they keep perks. Hopefully no perks are too powerful tho. But at that point, I'm pretty sure we will get paired up with players that match skill and a balance in our armory.

1 답변I'm not huge on that. If all weapons become the same, it's sort of pointless. However, if all weapons just find a new balance for the Crucible, that's fine. I'd rather they were tweaked than made all the same.

From what I gathered every item in pvp is essentially equal. Level 1 sniper does same damage as exotic level 20 sniper. U only get the bonus perk like reload sniper quicker, or quicker cool down on grenade. Same with armor.

1 답변Waaaait a minute...did he just say you do not need PS+? If so that means you can play without external interaction (for ps4)....soooooo why exactly can't I play offline???

22 답변I think this is definitely a bad idea. If Bungie is trying to push me to play hours of the campaign, to achieve exotic this and rare that, that i won't even be able to see because it's a FPS, whats the point? I've been a dedicated FPS gamer since GoldenEye 007 and haven't played a campaign since Halo 2. My reason; whats the point? The only thing that would motivate me is getting my ass beat in the Crucible by guys with better weapons and bad-ass gear.

2 답변I think he means they're removing the numbers but keeping the stat bars. For example, if I have an uncommon sniper say, 60 damage with 7.5/10 impact (dunno if this is accurate, just throwing numbers for an example); and you have an exotic hand cannon with 130 damage but only 7/10 impact. They're removing the damage number and just focusing on the impact stat as damage. Same for armor. If the armor piece resists x amount of damage but the armor rating is x/10, they'll focus on the latter rather than the former. This way people with exotic and legendary gear will have an advantage, but it won't be a ridiculously large one.

I hope they stick with it. I hate when games are based on who has the best gear. You can do everything right and still get shit on regardless of skill. I want to win because I played the situation better not because I have an I win stick.

During the Alpha I didn't notice anyone really being better that other guy. I got a triple kill using my Titan's ground slam. Two seconds later a golden gun sent me back to base. I guess the only gear that will matter is how much ammo your gun can carry. The Beta might be different. Alpha PVP guys will pick up on those difference right away and hopefully you'll get the feed back in them.
