Seriously, I would prefer to have my performance locally. Cloud computing is a step in the right direction for the future, but honestly I see another dream cast on our hands but worse. Cloud works only if two major things happen. The company has server farms dedicated to cloud storage and processing. In this case check. It also requires a stable internet speed. Honestly, I doubt that the US internet standard speed of less than 1 mbs can support the network. Its almost like having a GTX 780 with a cpu capable of less than 1ghz. Slow norm internet will cancel out almost any benefit cloud computing can accomplish.

Is internet that bad in parts of the US? My standard internet that I pay for from my cable company is 30mbps and this summer they are bumping it to 60 for no extra charge. I am generally surprised if less than one would be average

Parts? No not parts, the majority. The only places that get good internet is heavy urban areas, and even many have very limited options. Like where I live you either have DSL through At&T or the vultures called Comcast. And my city has a population close to 5 million over a quad county area. Also internet prices on the average are at least double what most Europeans pay. You have 30 mbs? Gonna throw a guess and say your bill is $150 and if bundled maybe $100. Just sayin.

Yea sounds right. I had Comcast once for 23 days. Had no choice to drop them. Had 50mbs internet and standard hd dvr package. Terrible install, multiple repair calls, customer service agents who seem to not care, and on top of that, even though I cancelled within their 30 day trial, I kept getting bills every month for a year. Took the threat of legal action and the hiring of a attorney to get it to stop. Was so bad that a debt collector called me. My credit is close to perfect. This never happens to me. So thats my Comcast horror story. Now I am back to reliable Direct TV. Not the best but better that Comcast.

작성자: JOSH55886 4/4/2014 4:43:24 AMLol, National Average is like 3Mbps I'm pretty sure. I have 3Mbps. About to bump it up to 6Mbps though. It's literally the best I can get. AT&T has their U-Verse crap I'll get when it's around here too. I can get 25Mbps with that.

I know. And there is a company in Seattle who sells 1gbs plans to apartment complexes and that is on a individual room rate. Kinda surprised they can do it too. Last I checked the FCC had a regulated cap of 120mbs for residential or personal use.

I do actually get 3Mbps. Really, it works fine. But if you try to download large files. Like I am now... I'm downloading the FFXIV: ARR Beta for PS4. 12GB, 10 hour download. That's ridiculous. And, if someone else gets online, especially like using Netflix or something, God help me. Basically, if I'm the only one using my internet, it's great, unless downloading large files. But if anyone else uses it, it goes to shit. Even watching Youtube videos is an absolute chore.
