작성자: Coker 3/26/2014 7:58:33 PMHmm, primarily, I'd say it's bc the current way we manage educating children essentially breaks up the family, and has a bigger impact on less wealthy families. Some families can manage a bond amidst the inconvenience of how the institution is currently set up, but I think too many children are affected negatively by this. And it doesn't help that public edu(at least here in the US) is set up like a watered down prison camp. Here in San Antonio, one school has RFID tracking id cards for kids, so if they ever leave, cops would snatch them up and take them bak to school lol. You mentioned earlier in someone else's subthread that forcing kids to get help, is a bad idea. I think the same logic applies to education. It's become too standardized, mandatory, regulated, etc by govt. There's a reason why home schooled children statistically do better in life on average then govt schooled kids despite the leisure in standards. I think it's bc being raised and educated by your family/parents is essential to stable mental health, instead of being raised and educated by the state from adolescence to adulthood. And yes, I know it's economically unfeasible for most families to provide and educate their children(Which is why reforming the entire economic system is the biggest priority in my book). Imo public edu has become not much more than a social engineering facility, where the core principles learned are "Don't do anything without permission, everything authority and textbooks tells you is fact, and fitting in is important", and clearly it's destroying the mental health and independent critical thinking capabilities of the youth, and it has only gotten worst as we move forward with the "no child left behind" attitude of Common Core.
