It would be better to help them than to just stick them with a bunch of anti-psychotic medications and say "okay that's good enough if that doesn't work we'll stick them in a mental institution"
Indeed, medication can be very helpful if used properly but you can't just use a bandaid fix to solve the underlying problems.
Medication to help make the treatment more effective, treatment helps solve the problem or allows them to better deal with it. Problem solved. Although not all cases do require meds, and certainly not at the rate of handing out prozac like candy.
