Personally, I think he did. I get that he sounds cool and that 343i was trying to bring out his humanity, but his dialogue is bordering on verbal diarrhea. I wasn't even finished with the first level and I was wishing that he'd just shut up. The reason Chief didn't say much in previous games is because Bungie wanted to make it easier for players to fit into his boots and relate to him. Hell, I can't even remember a single instance where Chief talked outside of a cutscene in previous Halo games. All his yapping in Halo 4 was one of the very first things that killed it for me, seeing as I played the campaign before anything else.

Bungie had him more the silent stoic type to fit in his shoes, but in all honesty Halo 4 had the best Master Chief. If you read the books, Chief is his own completely different character. In the games he's an almost mute killing machine.

1 답변작성자: Demigod 12/3/2013 4:44:30 PMI believe so. However while I strongly dislike Halo 4, it's not because of the continuation of Chief's story (which I kinda don't like). Rather it was because the potential of it was wasted by 343. If they had focused the story on the Precursors' return, the Didact having to overcome his hatred of humanity to protect what his wife cherished, and SLOWLY transition Chief into a more human character it could have been fantastic. Though that was my hope for this trilogy rather than just the first game, but what I was hoping to see is pretty much impossible after Halo 4. Not to mention a great deal of that dialogue was either grossly unnecessary, poorly written or both. They should have left Chief as he was for most of the previous titles; a confident, badass man of few words. Then as Cortana really started deteriorating some cracks could start to show, culminating in that final "Cortana, please" at the end before she dies. Instead we had Chief chatting it up and sounding like he's starting to panic right off the bat "Halsy. We have to find Halsy. She can fix this.". I have more to say but I don't feel like typing it out right now, but I do feel 343 dropped the ball a lot more than they should have.

24 답변343 materializing Cortana was just a mistake. Chief can talk but what I said is far worse.

3 답변Yeah, his dialogue was terrible. In Halo 3, Chief's attempts to retrieve Cortana from the clutches of the Gravemind, and the ending scene added a lot more gravity to the Chief-Cortana dynamic than Chief's cheesy dialogue in Halo 4.

2 답변Only a little bit. His stoic, badass voice started to sound raspy towards the end of the game (though I guess that was intentional...) Halo 3 Chief is still best Chief IMO

1 답변Taking it that one of their main goals for the game was to focus on him and his relationship with Cortana: it was fine with me.

1 답변He didn't talk too much. If anything, his lines were just more serious and stoic, effectively making his dialogue better and more in line with his character. Cortana on the other hand, was the strange divergence in my opinion. Granted, she is being subjected to rampancy; I still felt that her new persona and appearance was absurd (I wouldn't have guessed that it was her without the opening sequence making it abundantly clear.)

17 답변He talked way more in Halo CE than in H4. I didn't have a problem with him talking, but my problem is that half of the words were "Cortana" and how he spoke at stupid times.

I personally thought he was totally fine in Halo 4, he didn't talk non-stop but it was much more than usual. But I'm totally fine with that. I still felt like I was the Chief. It's really one of the things that 343 did well in H4, the personality of the Chief. Still the same as ever, but...... more.

Half of the words he said were, "Cortana?!" And the other half was unnecessary speech. I really didn't like how often he communicated in the comms, since he usually just listens to them. In Halo 4 he would respond to every radio hail in extreme military fashion. "This is Sierra 117 of the UNSC Forward Unto Dawn, we're on station, ready to assist." And other speeches he would never make... "Sit tight marine, we'll get you out of here." <-- He should just grab them and throw them to safety like in Halo CE's first mission when he threw the marine into the life pod! Not make a comforting speech... I want his badassery to be delivered!
