Back when Apple was going bankrupt, Microsoft was on the edge of a Monopoly and decided to save Apple in order to keep competition and I don't think they expected Apple to get as big as it has.
Now I am not sure if the Ouya or even the Wii U can be considered competition for the Xbox and Microsoft, if Sony went under would Microsoft help them out like they did apple? Nintendo is on the brink of collapse too but they are holding on.

2 답변Most of Sony's products don't even compete with Microsoft's. Games consoles are a very small percentage of sales of both companies.

3 답변Doesn't Sony own Blu-Ray? The reason I ask is because I know that the XB1 can now play Blu-Ray, and at this point it seems MS has to make their games more compact so they don't end up having multiple discs in a case, and the only feasible way to do that at this point is to put them on BD like Sony does with their PS3 games. So wouldn't MS owe money to Sony for using BD?

1 답변As Euler said, games are one of the few areas where the two compete. In fact, in many cases they work together. I doubt you'll find many VAIOs without Windows on them for instance. The Apple comparison isn't very apt for this reason. In addition, Sony has their fingers in so many different successful businesses/products that if they fail, something has gone apocalyptically wrong in the global economy (meaning Microsoft might somehow be in trouble as well).

2 답변A little off topic maybe but hey. I'm pretty sure the whole console war to Microsoft and Sony is just a big self running advertising/marketing system. Think about it, you have people fighting to the death (Not quite) whilst screaming praises of their own console and ignoring/talking shit about the other. It makes a lot of noise and gets a lot of attention with very little effort on Microsoft and Sony's part. I think Microsoft or possibly even the Japanese government might step in, Sony is one of Japan's biggest/well known companies and it would be a shamefurl dispray if they went under. Never underestimate the lengths they will go to to save face <.< Either way, Competition is good and the more of it there is the better products become. So Microsoft would be more likely to lend sony a helping hand if necessary than not. In my opinion.
Now I am not sure if the Ouya can be considered competition for the Xbox and Microsoft.
Lol. That thing was dead in the water when it was being planned out. There's no way in hell that thing ever was and ever will be competition for MS, Sony and Nintendo.

4 답변It would make Microsoft look great and competition is always good for innovation. As much as I have hated Sony leading up to the next generation of consoles, losing them would devastate the gaming industry.
