I think is the stupidest thing they've done for a while. First off they have given it a stupid name. Which average consumer is going to think that the 2DS is going to on par with the 3DS? The new form factor seems silly, why not just sue the 3DS form factor? Wouldn't it have cost them more to design and produce this new case? Couldn't they have just removed the 3D technology to create a cheaper version, or does having a device that looks significantly different help push sales? It loos horrible to hold, the doorstop shape just makes it look like it would have awful balance, and why and the buttons now at the top screen? Also for a handheld console it doesn't seem very portable anymore.

작성자: Alunnite 8/28/2013 8:28:58 PMHow young? My brother picked up his DS lite when he was 9. He broke the hinge when he discovered that it slid along the carpet at a surprising pleasant speed. Still works up to this day though. A child orientated console makes sense but does seem a bit dirty. Wouldn't they make more money by selling a 3DS XL to the same kid every time he break it :P Edit: 3DS is aimed at 7+, so they want to be selling this to 5 to 6 year olds. That's a very small demographic.

You have to remember, and if you've seen WiiU or 3DS commercials these are aimed at families, and children. While the 3DS Library has Zero Escape, Fire Emblem, SMTIV, and such they make most of their money from their first party games aimed at a younger or light-hearted demographic. This is because Nintendo as stated by themselves say they are a Toy Manufacturer. Which is why they are hoping on the Skylanders/Disney Infinity train with Pokémon Rumble...so many toys to sell! So, this is perfect for the mom or pop who wants to buy their 7 year old to maybe even a 10 year old a 3DS, that is cheaper, and might see the 3DS as pointless in their opinion for a young child who doesn't care for the gimmick.
