Marijuana is a green, brown, or gray mixture of dried, shredded leaves, stems, seeds, and flowers of the hemp plant. Marijuana has a chemical in it called tetrahydrocannabinol, better known as THC. All forms of marijuana are mind-altering (psychoactive). In other words, they change how the brain works. A lot of other chemicals are found in marijuana, too about 400 of them, some of which are carcinogenic. Marijuana is addictive, with more teens in treatment with a primary diagnosis of marijuana dependence than for all other illicit drugs combined.
Definition of Carcinogen-A substance or agent that causes cancer. Related terms include the adjective carcinogenic and the nouns carcinogenesis and "carcinogenicity

A doctors response:
Because of the serious physical and psychological effects associated with its use, Despite the fact that it is widely available, and even accepted in some families and communities, marijuana remains A legally restricted and harmful drug. It's main ingredient THC or Delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol, a mind altering chemical. Marijauna produced today has a level of THC that is up to 25 times higher than the type sold in the 1960s. Depending on how it is cut, it can contain hundreds of other harmful chemicals, many of which are carcinogenic.
Biologically, marijuana affects the brain, heart, lungs, sexual organs, and depresses the immune system. The effects on the brain include distortion of the senses, confused judgment, and decreased motor skills. Operating machinery and motor vehicles becomes dangerous. Effects on the heart include rapid heart rate and high blood pressure. Respiratory problems include pharyngitis, laryngitis, and bronchitis. Marijuana has been associated with lung, head, and neck cancers. It reduces the T-cells in the immune system that are needed to fight off infections. In pre-teens, marijuana use can retard physical growth and slow down development. High dose marijuana use can cause decreased fertility, breast enlargement in males, and breast milk production. Usually marijuana is inhaled by smoking a "joint" for it's psychological effects. Within the first few minutes, it produces a sense of heightened well being and relaxation. Now that sounds good. But with continued use, the mental effects include short-term memory loss, shortened attention span, impaired learning, social withdrawal, and decreased motivation. Anxiety attacks, panic reactions, delirium, and hallucinations can occur. So pediatricians are very concerned about the harmful effects of marijuana and they do not support its use or legalization.
Now I would love to see someone try and say that these are all lies, to all you poorly misinformed marijuana smokers, if any of you can actually disprove any of this and tell me it's healthy to smoke marijuana then you are simply an imbecile and yet another individual lost to the addiction of drug, stuck in denial and unable to realize you have a problem
TLDR; Contrary to the BS line people have been running Marijuana is bad for you and any study that says otherwise is doctored and an all around fallacy.
I welcome all Sides of this debate and wish to understand how anyone can support the use of marijuana. For god sake people it's ILLEGAL. Now I understand some people smoke it for pain relief, however, it is very dangerous as over time you become dependent and have to smoke amounts and concentrations so high it alone can and will kill you.

작성자: edableshoe 8/8/2014 3:56:26 AM
TLDR; Contrary to the BS line people have been running Marijuana is bad for you and any study that says otherwise is doctored and an all around fallacy.
You are correct in saying that marijuana, is in fact bad for you. The act of igniting any substance would be bad for your health, it just so happens that the most common method of introducing THC and CBD into the body is through the act of smoking the plant. It's a pretty rudimental way of ingesting the chemical, but you gotta give credit to the ingenuity that is behind edibles when you start that argument. Pretty basic health science, but hey, at least we now have a decent understanding of our body, instead of trying to slice open our head and relieve the pressure as a cure. I don't know man, at this point you start to wonder about other substances that people enjoy. Why not? These are people that like to change the state of their perception, and increase their dopamine levels in one way or another, be it alcohol or tobacco. You drink to poison your bloodstream with a substance, with the intention of altering the performance ability of your brain. You mentioned Carcinogens, right? "While cannabis smoke has been implicated in respiratory dysfunction, including the conversion of respiratory cells to what appears to be a pre-cancerous state [5], it has not been causally linked with tobacco related cancers [6] such as lung, colon or rectal cancers. Recently, Hashibe et al [7] carried out an epidemiological analysis of marijuana smoking and cancer. A connection between marijuana smoking and lung or colorectal cancer was not observed." (Harm Reduct J. 2005) So, if I am correct in drawing the conclusion, you argue that Marijuana is unhealthy due to carcinogens, a key word in society that means cancer, and yet we allow for tobacco smokers continue to flood their lungs with tar, while this substance causes "over 150,000 deaths per year in the United States alone." (CDC Fact Sheet) Let's not forget about your list of... Risks associated with marijuana usage:
Impaired judgment and motor coordination Sounds a little like... Alcohol. Did you know that there are about 88,000 alcohol related deaths per year within the United States? Shortened attention span and distractibility You know, that brings up a good point, seeing as the average Maximum-security Inmate cost about $33,000 a year. Pretty crazy when you think about the insane number of arrested individuals. Land of the free? "The United States has about 5 percent of the world's population, but we have 25 percent of the world's prisoners." (CBS News) Anxiety and panic attacks Don't even get me started on how unhealthy the United States are right now.... Increased heart rate At least we have a heart rate that isn't pumping around a bunch of Ebola. Increased risk of heart attack I don't have time for the best crap... Increased risk for schizophrenia in vulnerable individuals I guess we know who shouldn't be smoking in the first place then.... #genepool #checkyourbloodlineandyourprivleges Impaired judgment Wouldn't want to accidentally eat two cartens of icecream, instead of one. Because we all know that's pretty much the only stupid idea anyone has ever had while stoned. Problems with memory and learning This has always been an interesting point to me, and I have to say, it is very true! But then again, if you drank alcohol everyday, you would probably have poor memory as well, so I guess we all know that you should probably refrain from using anything to excess. Lowered motivation I'm typing this entire reply while extremely stoned. I'm also in Colorado, so this is perfectly legal too. Decreased alertness and coordination Addiction I really wanted to skip this one because I'm not that motivated anymore, but it's kind of important, so I'll give it a go. You've got to remember, any substance you use is objectively addictive. The key is to treat it like alcohol, and use it socially, unless you need it medically. It comes down to a key rule in life, something in your next "factoid of weed" Withdrawal symptoms from stopping drug use (in a chronic user): irritability, sleeplessness, anxiety, impaired appetite, and aggression. You think this is bad, you should see the shit that happens when you quit heroin. But I guess that's what happens when you use something to excess. Like I said before, you just have to learn how to use things correctly. That's what life is all about. Sure, there are drugs that shouldn't ever be legal, because they ruin lives consistently, and cause crippling addictions. And no, I'm not talking about alcoholics, though they do actually land in the same category. Anyway my point is that heroin is downright much more dangerous than you can possibly imagine, and the only people that tend to face marijuana withdraws are users that maintain a constant high. And that's just downright dangerous and wrong... so use it sparingly, please.
TL;DR You're wrong, but that's just, uh, like, my opinion....man.

12 답변작성자: DocSmurf 7/28/2013 11:01:14 AMRisks associated with marijuana usage:
Impaired judgment and motor coordination
Incorrect. Impaired judgement implies the inability to sense danger correct for error and dangerous behavior. While high connections in the brain fire in different patters sometimes resulting in different ways of assessing issues and generally different discussion. IT DOES NOT take away your sense of danger nor does it actually impair balance, Take it from someone with experience.
Shortened attention span and distractibility
Temporary: Also not the end of the world. This results in quick fire conversation and what has come to be called, stretch association, ore the ability to draw seeming separate things together in a conversation and still have it make sense.
Anxiety and panic attacks
Only in those with a predisposition for anxiety and panic attacks.
Increased heart rate
An average increasing in resting heart rate of 10-20 BPM which is far from lethal.
Increased risk of heart attack
Sources needed.
Increased risk for schizophrenia in vulnerable individuals
In those with a predisposition as you have said, they should stay away from it then. Also the correlation is difficult to make because that mental disorder is easily set of by near anything.
mpaired judgment
said this and i already covered it.
Problems with memory and learning
Temporary: only even occurs near the blazed end of the spectrum nearing a 7-8 out of the Internets 11 step highness chart.
Lowered motivation
.... one of its main effects is relaxation during the smoking session so yeah? how is that bad?
Decreased alertness and coordination
Negative. Reported increases in awareness of mild to moderate users and motor function remains on par with sober motor skills in these usage brackets.
Addiction
In only 6-9 percent of the heavy users bracket in studies as recent as 2012 and 2013.

Estimates from research suggest that about 9 percent of users become addicted to marijuana; this number increases among those who start young (to about 17 percent, or 1 in 6) and among daily users (to 25-50 percent).

We know way to much about this stuff and have done far to much independent research. I will gladly dump a mountain of sources on you.

2 답변It heals and protects the brain, it's absolutely NOT addictive or harmful, in fact, it is a potential exit-drug off of harder substances. The real gateway drug is alcohol. It does not cause cancer, it can treat and cure it. Let's go over these risks. Temporary Temporary Dependent on the user and temporary And? No, that would be the fault of a weak heart on ANY substance. False, it can TRIGGER it just as anything else can, even an unhealthy habit of food. Temporary False and/or temporary. It can actually improve long-term memory and it only temporarily effects short-term memory because the cannabinoid receptor swells while high and it sits next to your short-term memory gland. False Temporary Absolutely false and has been shown to HELP break addictions and treat withdrawal symptoms. Hmm, not one thing you listed was harmful or a risk. Stop buying into the propaganda. Its GOING to be legalized, and more states will probably do so this year. It's about time your incorrect mindset is being debunked again and again and going away. The majority of this country supports legalization and cannabis is nothing but healthy and beneficial to us, while prohibition is an expensive and dangerous waste that has caused more harm than drugs ever could. Of course cannabis should be used RESPONSIBLY in moderation and recreation, as caffeine, alcohol and cigarettes should.

4 답변I personally don't smoke or drink because I consider my mind to be the only thing going for me, and I don't want to mess it up. Anyway, here is my solution for the debacle: Legal in all states, but only usable on private, home property. This means that people can only smoke at home, and they must be sober everywhere else. If found stoned or high while outside of private property, an officer can issue a ticket for $420. If necessary, the officer can bring the offender into custody until sober. This insures that people can enjoy themselves at only their own risk, and other people like myself will not be negatively affected by someone who is not mentally sober.

Marijuana slows down cancer cells 2.Marijuana replaces ADHD medicine quite effectively 3.Marijuana helps with your appetite, this would be helpful to those with an eating disorder. 4.Marijuana makes me a better driver 5.Marijuana makes me better at video-games. 6.Marijuana helps me concentrate and think deeper thoughts.
