Sorry about having poll options 5 and 6 split up, but the poll options leave me no space at all practically even though half of the gray bar isn't even taken up, so consider those part of the same option, their votes will be counted together as one.
Do you think video games have made the world a better place? Or have they made a more detrimental effect on it?

If Video Games were not around.. People would see elsewhere for their entertainment.. and those other areas might not be as safe or legal as just sitting at home at the end of a day's hard work and game. Yes.. Video games good.

The video game industry has indeed changed the way we as a society tell and experience stories. While going to the movies is a fun experience, being able to immerse yourself in the environment you are being presented is an altogether different way of seeing that vision. In my opinion there is no better media of sharing a narrative then by allowing the player to become the main character (hero or villain) and shape the story his/her own way. In this regards, realistic video games have become a foundation of the entertainment industry, forcing developers and story tellers to think outside their box to usher in a new era of entertainment. On a side note - many people will blame video games for behavioral issues that many people "suffer" from, claiming that violent or inappropriate games have influenced their judgement in a manner they normally wouldn't accept in the real world. The "Video games made me do it" excuse that many violent criminals (who do in fact make the world worse) is merely a cop out for having to accept responsibility for their actions. Game ratings are in place for a specific reason and should only be played by the demographic they are produced for. (specific instances may vary)
