nightingale

Hello Bungie Support, I am experiencing an issue while trying to launch Destiny 2 on PC via Steam. Every time I start the game, I receive the following error message: "Failed to download configuration files from Bungie servers (Error Code: Nightingale)." Here are my details: - Platform: PC (Steam) - Installation: External SSD - Internet connection: Stable (tested with other online games) - I have already tried: - Verifying game files - Restarting my router - Clearing cache files (AppData/Bungie/DestinyPC) - Reconnecting the external SSD and trying different USB ports Despite these steps, the issue still persists. Could you please assist me in resolving this problem? Thank you in advance for your support. Best regards

  • Hello there, Thank you for reaching out. NIGHTINGALE means the game client can’t download required config files from Bungie’s servers, usually due to DNS/firewall/network issues rather than your install itself. Since you’re on PC/Steam and already did the basics, try these in order: Fully power-cycle network + PC Shut down PC. Unplug router/modem for 60 seconds, plug back in, wait until fully online. Boot PC and try Destiny 2 again. Change DNS to Google DNS (very often fixes NIGHTINGALE) Open Control Panel → Network and Sharing Center → Change adapter settings. Right-click your active connection → Properties. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) → Properties. Choose Use the following DNS server addresses and set: Preferred: 8.8.8.8 Alternate: 8.8.4.4 Click OK on all dialogs, then restart your PC and launch Destiny 2. Clear Steam download cache In Steam: Steam → Settings → Downloads → Clear Download Cache. Steam will restart; log back in and try Destiny 2. Test a different network path Temporarily connect via phone hotspot or a different network to see if you can get past the error. If it works there, your home network/router is blocking or timing out the config download. Check firewall / security software Temporarily disable third-party antivirus/firewall or add exceptions for: destiny2.exe Steam Ensure your router isn’t using aggressive filtering, parental controls, or a VPN/proxy that could block Bungie traffic. Last-resort reinstall If all of the above fail, fully uninstall Destiny 2 and reinstall. After reinstall, try with Google DNS still set. If you run through all of this and NIGHTINGALE still appears on multiple networks, that strongly suggests either: an ISP-side routing/DNS problem, or a local hardware issue (SSD, NIC, or router).
