Bungie made a mistake with Marathon marketing saying it's not FOR Destiny players...
It was a mistake and I still think that.
But it wasn't wrong.
In fact, I'll argue it further.
And that's why D2 needs to die.
Destiny 2 isn't for Destiny players.
I want a complete wipe now.
Destiny's Dark Future needs to feel & function like a brand-new game.
Otherwise, entitled players will never stop asking for D1.
They'll never let the developers iterate.
And those players need to be purged.
Our Ghosts need to die.
We need layered systems for limitations, beyond just cooldowns and mod energy.
Weighting... and literal weighting, stamina... heat... we're seeing some of the precursors.
The idea that you can use whatever you want for ANYTHING needs to go.
*Pew Pew* add clear for endgame... "[I don't want to think... crack a bruski and run raids]".
**** THAT!
That's NOT endgame. And part of Bungie's accountability was subsidizing those delusions and entitlement for nearly a decade.
And they had to balance the loot per those delusions... so it sucked, for a long time...
Now it doesn't & the game is a complete joke respective difficulty...
And people are still asking for D1, lol.
And people are still ****in' about RnG drops.
And somehow the game is still too hard.
The new Destiny should not BE for Destiny players.
@Bungie... don't say it though, just do it 👀.
😇👍💠
I'm excited for Oct/Nov.
I'm kinda in this place, the update in June doesn't matter to me... I wouldn't even do it.
I want the reset. And I love my Compact Defenders. Wipe it all, even the heat weapons.
I don't want any loot refreshes in June (save that for the next expansion)... I don't want any carryover. I'd shelve Pantheon.
@Bungie... if you allow carryover, it will never stop.
Into the Dark... should be completely dark. Cosmetics maybe...
Into the Light was great, RotN was good... none of that loot has value. Why do Dungeon and Raid loot refreshes for nothing?
Waste time and resources for something that will not satisfy the playerbase, it won't bring in new players.
And where's the space for it?
@Bungie... more of a rant than feedback, more...
"STAY the course".
Now you might say, I thought you said there are systems in Marathon that will be familiar.
I did.
If you enjoy the good, can separate out the bad without equivocation...
When I say Destiny 2 isn't for Destiny players... it's more nuanced than the statement may be interpreted. As was the statement Ziegler made about Marathon.
Here's the true problem with live service.
A game shouldn't be made for peoples' fïçkle desires.
You make a great game... service it, & **** off with your BK entitlement philosophy to "get it your way".
The guy that trained Gordon Ramsay... Chef, kicked people out of his restaurants every night.
He hustled entitled millionaires trying to leverage their meaningless prestige.
@Bungie/@Sony... that's how you should run Destiny. Like Pierre.
A restaurant is communal much like a game... I'm sure many of us have experienced or seen how an entitled customer can destroy those vibes.
And that's why he threw people out every night.
That's the nuance behind,
Destiny 2 isn't for Destiny players.
Marathon isn't for Destiny players.
And Destiny's Dark Future... should NOT be made for Destiny players.
Feedback for inspiration... feedback as an alarm system, sometimes.
Not design via Feedback... that will never work. Making every customer or vocal minorities... Chef...
That includes my feedback, btw. I'm not giving myself an exemption.
Data points for analysis not direction. I may say 'do this', write confidently... not a prescription.
You design and develop the game @Bungie/@Sony. I've never been confused about that.
So, make it. I'm behind you 👻... call me Casper.
Make your game, and you'll make money.
Destiny to be the best game possible. NOT for... anything else.
Within the scope of economic realities of course.

25 답변작성자: xbroggiex 2/25/2026 4:15:27 PMImagine thinking Marathon will grant any boons to Destiny lmao.
Our Ghosts need to die.
I love the constant cope with a Destiny 3 or a complete reset being that our character/ghost needs to die or something for it. It completely neglects the entire point of Destiny is that you create a character that comes along the entire journey with you through the entire story. If Bungie decided to just wipe the slate clean and make everyone start with a nobody character most players would simply quit because the plot doesn't matter. You'd be creating TFS problem but on a much larger scale.

작성자: iforgot 2/25/2026 9:38:15 PMThe situation is simple, If marathon succeeds bungie will make money, then its up to them if theyre going to continue working on d2 or make d3, no point bringing back d1, just a new d3 or continue d2 although I am up for a new d3 or they will just dump destiny and focus marathon On the other hand, if marathon fails then its ggs, I'll see yall on roblox since creating a new game takes a bunch of money and they won't have anything to continue d2 nor d1

6 답변It is quite clear that your only consistent opinion is to defend Bungie to it's dying breath. So much for all your talk about how much you love Destiny and it's players.

6 답변Why do you choose this format to lay out your thoughts? It comes off as the fragmented ramblings of a very unwell individual.

I’m grinding through the night, chasing dreams like a ghost, Gear up the raid squad, rally up for the toast. But every patch drops, got my heart feeling weak, They nerf the weapons, man, it’s making me bleak. Took the Gjallarhorn, turned it into a toy, Used to blast through the foes, now it’s just a ploy. Every season feels like a battle for our fate, Stop adjusting stats, let me dominate. Back in the day, we would run the Tower proud, Now I’m scanning my loadout, lost in the crowd. Hit the Crucible, but my shots don’t land, Feels like I’m playing with a crippled hand. I’m a Guardian, but they’re killing my vibe, When I can’t feel the power that I used to prescribe. Quit nerfing my !@#$%, let me have my fun, I’m here to slay, not to be underdone. Got my fireteam with me, we’re ready to slay, But these balance changes got my skills on display. So Bungie, hear me out, let the players thrive, Bring back the glory, let the real ones survive.

4 답변I'd like to have some of whatever you're on... that said- i agree with the basis of your argument. D2 does need a reset and they need to create a game with a vision; and if I don't align with it; that's ok; but this game for everyone trying to appease everyone; no one is happy right now.

Lol I always enjoy your comments. Although yours are always down voted as well. Contraindications. In reality, real real! life advice we all should just get along and stop playing and hence stop complaining. I never thought I had to admit something like that but my 25 year old son was/is wiser than his old father. Destiny veteran and raid Lord from the very beginning, he had the balls to pull the plug shortly after the Final Shape launch. It's only a game. Take care!

5 답변What a load of self-righteous, self-aggrandising pomposity. I read your posts and try to understand what you’re saying but they are always the same. Utter nonsense. You’re the Destiny forum equivalent of Polonius. No more like Mr Collins, who is infamous for his long winded sycophantic ramblings. 🤣 Personally I’ve found our interactions to be very educational. They remind me constantly that some people are more to be pitied than censored. Good day to you sir.

2 답변I’m not a developer or a business expert — just someone who believes in paying attention. If you look at a games player count over time, the highs and lows tell a story. When numbers spike, something worked. When they drop, something didn’t. Common sense says: study those moments. Figure out what changes brought players in — and what pushed them away. Then build new content based on what people clearly enjoyed. You don’t have to guess what players want. The data already shows you. But it feels like this company has absolutely no interest in Destiny anymore, so I guess any speculation is all in vain

2 답변작성자: Guardian, Archon Of Light 2/23/2026 9:54:25 PMTLDR "Bungie, don't make the game how other people want it, make it how I want it" If you want to talk about entitlement, look in the mirror And there is enough darkness in real life, I want my escapist fantasy to have a satisfying happy ending, one of the things I like about Destiny is there is a chance people can come back Our Ghosts need to live, the Light needs to conquer darkness and death, people should be able to live as long as they want BTW, you are running out of time for Mara to turn evil

I agree with a multitude of your positions with a few to counter- #1. The game isn't hard. Agreed. Prismatic's introduction to the franchise fundamentally shifted the 50:50 Gunplay:Ability Spam vision and balance that has carried D2. It's wholly unhealthy and has put the game on EZ mode. Players I knew pre-Prismatic who seriously struggled in Endgame were suddenly cruising and making competitive boards. It's cheapened the strategic side of D2 for many. Yes, the best of the best are still strategizing their adventures, but for most everyone else, it's a become a button mashing MOBA. And that's a massive problem. #2. You can use anything you want and cruise through the game. This is a problem for a variety of reasons, the primary being it reduces skill expression and deincentivizes the grind. Using an off-meta subclass or build should only dictate success if the player behind the controls is skilled enough. It shouldn't be that the sandbox is sooo broken anyone can run anything, but that's exactly what has happened. Additionally, most weapons performing at a passable level means players don't need to grind for new ones. We have an arsenal in our Vaults and via Crafting. I could never grind another new weapon again and remain competent and competitive within my community and within this playerbase. And that simply doesn't work in a Looter Shooter. #3. The game needs a reset. Agreed. For numerous reasons. The primary being our Vaults. As outlined above. We have builds and weapons that could be ridden to the end of time. And while variety isn't bad nor what I am condemning here, there is very little incentive to grind this game in its current state. Because we're all powerful as all get out. I've had numerous conversations about how to address this within D2, but all of them almost always circle back to some form of sunsetting. I still like the idea of us selecting so many weapons for the season from our Vault and then having slots for new ones. Additionally, I also like the idea of a Vault NOT EXISTING AT ALL! You can carry what you can carry. This is fairly in line with a few of your sentiments. It doesn't promote variety, but it does promote skill expression. Another more middle ground concept is just reducing Vault space. I think Armor access is far more important to retain than weapons. Then you aren't grinding for a build, just the weapons to compliment them. Limit total weapon space in the Vault. Exotics cannot be pulled from collections or elsewhere. If it drops in the world, you keep it or delete it and lose it until it drops again. This would promote far more variety in terms of what the playerbase builds and utilizes. Yes the upper 1% would be identical in terms of setups, as they mostly are now. But everyone else? You'd see massive variety and builds that specialize for specific functions. You know like a TRUE MMO. #4. Destiny 3 shouldn't be for Destiny players. Alright.....then who? Who is going to engage this franchise? It's a Looter Shooter meets FPS meets MMO hybrid. It's a beautiful balance of PVE & PVP. There's NOTHING like it on the market still. So who does Destiny 3 appeal to? I think Destiny 3 needs to appeal to Destiny players, but expectations need to shift. Guardians should not be enamored with and salty about the game's difficulty shifting by reducing a god-tier arsenal. Most Destiny players would have a cow if their Vaults were deleted, but that's exactly what needs to happen without Bungie doing it themselves. Where I disagree with Vault resets is with Armor. Because that just gatekeeps builds. You don't want builds fundamentally gatekept. You want weapons gatekept that complete them. Grinding for a meta build across all fronts (ie armor, fragments, weapons) is NOT peak Destiny. Peak Destiny is having most of the build together, then grinding the weapons for completion. And while you do that, one experiments with what they've previously earned. Overall, your words are not untrue in any capacity, but I see why many disagree.

2 답변[Verse] Yo, Bungie's pulling stunts, like they playin' with our fate, Used to grind for loot, now they ghosting, it's too late, Shaders shining bright, but the light's about to fade, Chasing dreams in the tower, but it's feeling like a raid. From the Crucible clashes to the Nightfall grind, Wanna save our universe, but they’re leaving us behind, Fallen angels crying out, can’t believe the signs, Exotic gear's a memory, lost in the designs. Destiny was destiny, now it's just a ghost, Used to hold the line, now I'm raising up a toast, To the guardians who fought, gave it all to the grind, Remember every strike, every glitch in the mind. Now we’re left with shadows, echoes of the past, Chasing after moments, but they never seem to last, Grinding with my fireteam, now I’m screaming at the sky, Man, Bungie's killing dreams, that's the reason why I cry. [Hook] Destiny's endgame, we’re losing faith, Bungie's got us hanging, it’s a bitter taste, From the Tower to the stars, we fought to stay, But now we’re just spectators in this game they play. Echoes in the dark, can you hear our call? Guardians united, but we’re destined to fall, Chasing the horizon, but it’s drifting away, Destiny’s endgame, we got something to say.

While I don’t agree with all your points I do believe that your sentiment is correct. Destiny needs a reset. Player mindset also needs a reset. For me the biggest downfalls of this game were 1. It became a hamster wheel of content where the magic was redirected to eververse and engagement numbers trumped enjoyment. Content became formulaic and Bungie lost their love for making this world. 2. Bungie tried to give everyone everything - in a looter this never worked. They did this to increase engagement and hopefully micro transactions. If some players are angry they can’t get the best gun, that’s fine. And players need to accept that too. Sadly, I don’t see a reset any time soon. Either marathon does well and Bungie allocate resources to that - keeping D2 a hamster wheel to get as much money for as little development until that model isn’t profitable enough. Or marathon does bad. Sony closes Bungie and takes their best staff. After a while they use the Destiny IP to make something - probably a Destiny classic at this point as remakes are a safer bet in media. If the want and passion for this game existed then I’d still be here hopeful. But that’s what is lost and without that, there is no future.

2 답변IMHO: if Destiny is to survive, and hopefully thrive, they need to reignite the lost ‘space magic’ vibe…which was alive and well, until they killed it off with the Sunset debacle. The Lightfail event…the enhanced Neomuna Overtuna (N.O.) vibe - that only appealed to the minority…the nonstop issues within BHQ itself - layoffs / art misappropriation issues / rats jumping a sinking ship once they’d secured their golden life preserver/ the firing of Joe B / over delivery nonsense / etc… The history is known…the dwindling player base…the indifference shown to this Community by current Management…the bugs / glitches and crumbling infrastructure…etc…etc. D3 needs to happen…and it needs to be overflowing with the space magic vibe! Build it, and we will be there! 🥳 How they do that is up to them. Announce D3 as a Work in Progress (WiP)…and open the whole vaulted Destiny universe, and open the loot floodgates for D2 so all can have some fun in the interim. It’s also possible to update D1 with upgraded technology and other gaming advances, and relaunch it as Destiny Legacy…whilst D3 is a WiP. So many options! But, that’s down to Sony / BHQ…and, radio silence ain’t the way forward! 👈 Just my 2d worth…given that I’ve only played Destiny, and a brief spell over at WarFrame (MR24😎) since D1Y1. So, as I’m not a buyer of Marathon, though I do like the art vibe, and I probably will play the free trial event, I’m looking at finding something new…something that will keep me entertained and amused…and maybe the pending launch of the Steam Game Cube, and access to the Game Library might fit the bill?! 🤔 That means I will no longer be a subscription customer of PlayStation, nor PS5 or PS6 when it launches…which amounts to a tidy sum of lost income for Sony. 👈 That is all. Ease Springs! 🖖👻 MTFBWY
