If they have something big, they’re not just going to throw it out there. They’ll wait until they have everything in place. Marathon probably also affects things.
If it’s nothing big, we’re not missing much.
That’s how I see it.
If they have something big planned, like a D2 relaunch, or D3, they can win players back and bring in new players. That’s news worth waiting for.
If all they have is a new Stasis super, that’s not something I’m desperate to hear about as soon as possible. It’s not something that’s going to keep me playing long term, so I don’t really care when that kind of news drops.
On Nov 13, Bungie acknowledged the Portal, the forever power grind and so many weapon tiers was not the way to go. They then said a roadmap for Destiny's future was coming. It is almost 2 full months later. Not one single word of follow up. The roadmap they released highlighted patch notes, not content. That roadmap only goes as far as now.
With important questions like,
Will the portal remain in 2026?
When is the next Power Level reset? (remember, they wanted us to be a 300 to start Renegades)
Is the portal still the only way to increase Power Level?
These seem like simple questions, but it is the entire core of Destiny, and should have been answered in November. Since then, they have had a giant reveal for Marathon. The End of Year TWAB introduced a whole new staff of community managers.
If you personally think their silence is to later reveal some giant surprise, I have no evidence to deny that, so that guess is a good as any. I personally believe silence right now is because they still do not how to proceed.
Could be both - if Sony wants to invest in the future of Destiny, but they’re still finalising those plans.
Or neither - if they have little or no future content planned for Destiny, but they don’t want to reveal that info until the last possible moment (to avoid negatively affecting current sales).
My gut tells me the first one is most likely, but yeah, it’s just a guess. I could be completely wrong.

When do you think this moment is? They made that statement in November and not a single word since. 2 Months of holidays are over. Basically 50 days away from the next update. That hype has to last until the next DLC.
Not a lot happens over Christmas, so it feels like a longer delay than it really is.
I don’t know - I’m hopeful we’ll get some news in the next month or so, but it really depends on the reason for delay. Marathon also complicates it.
