Praising him by calling him an icon is a monumental understatement; akin to calling a Ferrari Daytona a "cool car."
It's so strange to think of a Hollywood without him because he's been around, and performing at a high level, for so incredibly long.
Two movies, one early in his career and one later are free on YT right now. Downhill Racer with Gene Hackman is a cool character study of a professional skier on his way up the ladder and Spy Game with Brad Pitt. After Redford narrated A River Runs Through It starring Pitt in the early 90s, I thought it was cool they did a movie where they were both together on the screen.
His Jeremiah Johnson nodding gif is forever on the internet, but I've always been partial to that Sundance wave. Later days, Cowboy.
I liked The Way We Were and of course Butch and Sundance. Downhill Racer not so much, but to each his own. Also The Sting.
I'm hear ya'. Downhill is not one I watch often, I've only seen it a handful of times. And I'm one of the folks that likes The Sting more than Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, though I enjoy them both. I just noticed that Sneakers is also currently free on YT!
