These are just my first impressions of the Mida Multi Tool changes, and I have only played 3 games of Control so far… But I already have some strong opinions on the changes.
I have the most kills on Mida Multi Tool in Destiny PVP. By far. Last I checked, I have around 170,000 kills in PVP and over 60,000 kills in Trials. The next person in Trials has around 7000 or so kills, so it is not even close.
I am also a very successful PVP player (top 500 in Trials, Control, and Competitive), so I am not just a weirdo who sticks to one gun (I am, but I am also very successful).
Trust me, I know what makes Mida good, and I have used it to great effect against some of the best players in the game.
BUNGIE HAS RUINED A LOT OF WHAT MADE MIDA GOOD.
Mida has always thrived on consistency, and basically all the changes make Mida less consistent.
1) "Movement speed bonus" - This only applies to when you are sprinting and walking forward. Improving sprint speed is always good, but for goodness sake, the difference in strafe speed between side to side and moving forward is too much. Yes, I think I can get used to this, but it is a jarring experience. Bungie should have simply slightly buffed the side to side strafe speed of the weapon instead of sticking it all into forward strafe. I mean, who the heck is strafing forward in a gunfight anyways?
2) "Radar at close range" - First of all, WHY WOULD YOU HAVE YOUR SCOUT RIFLE EQUIPPED AT CLOSE RANGE? Also, it is jarring to have to adjust between the enhanced and regular radar, and the radar shifts once you change weapons. There used to be a perk in the game called Keen Scout which PERMANENTLY buffed the radar and made it enhanced. That would have been an excellent buff to the weapon without the weird activation requirement Bungie chose to add.
3) “Changing Stats And Perks Based On Kills” - Again, a story of inconsistency on a weapon whose entire viability was based on consistency. I love the ADS speed increase, and Mida in D1 used to have maxed Handling. Nothing wrong with that, but when you make it a temporary buff that isn't always active, it can mess with timing. Don't even get me started on explosive Payload. It is a strongly preferential perk, and it can easily mess with aim. While I am confident I can grow used to it, it absolutely makes the gun feel less consistent to play with. Finally, adding a temporary stability buff on a gun simply messes with aim. You cannot tell me I am wrong on that. Obviously, if you constantly have these perks active (like you probably do in PVE), it is no big deal. But in PVP, I suspect these perks will be constantly changing how Mida performs, and that makes it hard to get into a rhythm.
4) “Removal Of No Distractions” - Look, I don't love No Distractions. But it could be triggered CONSISTENTLY on a weapon whose strong suit is never having to zoom out to check radar. It had some synergy. These other changes (with the possible exception of the movement speed increase) have no synergy with the gun and certainly don't build on what made Mida great.
Mida has been a niche weapon for a while, and it could have used buffs. However, not THESE buffs. Mida thrives on consistency, and these buffs create chaos.
Boo, Bungie. As the top Mida player in your game, I strongly question these decisions. Again, these are only my first impressions, and I absolutely appreciate Bungie trying new stuff.

1 답변While I disagree that the gun itself is “ruined”, the new catalyst not only sucks, but it straight up doesn’t make sense. No distractions was simple, but extremely good. Like you said, what moron has a scout rifle out when they’re getting fingered by shotguns? Devs once again proving they don’t play their own game.

5 답변Im guessing the enhanced radar is for swapping to the close ranged weapons to pair with it. Im a little surprised the enhanced radar doesn't stick for a second or 2 after swapping. Haven't touched it in years but if they messed with its stafe behavior I could see that being jarring and frustrating. That's the Bungo way

2 답변In truth I never considered Mida a consistent gun to begin with frankly, since the recoil direction is particularly bad for a scout at 80 - you want either 100 or numbers ending in 5. My favorite archetype is still probably precision 180 scouts like vision of confluence even if they're mediocre, mainly because the direction is less pronounced and i like the rate of fire. However out of all of these the one I think that is the worst is the movement nerf and frankly since the edge of fate armor changes mobility/movement speed has been nerfed across the board which is wild.
