Liquidating forests in breath of the wild. I 100% it and tears of the kingdom. After the main quests every side quest feels like the must mundane and agonizing chore of all time. Not to mention the shrines… some of those glitches are pretty much impossible to do on the switch. I also like unpacking. It’s really quite easy and fun. Rearranging furniture in animal crossing is satisfying as well.
Unpacking. Throughout the whole game you unpack moving boxes in different rooms, apartments, and houses and organize the stuff. It’s amazing how almost therapeutic it is. Especially because of how much I hate unpacking things in real life.
I'll agree with the mining in Minecraft and add chopping trees, too. Taking care of the stock and the pets. Building houses, bridges, etc.
Portal Knights has a similar building/harvesting process as well. No animals to take care of.
I also like taking care of the slimes in Slime Rancher. I sometimes find I'd rather just run around my ranch and just feed and collect plorts.
I played a bit of Spiritfarer, and, for the hour or two that I played, pretty much the whole game was doing chores. It was kinda fun. Very relax. But I'm not super into farming sims and whatnot, so chores never really appealed to me.
I'd rather have a nice minigame in the hubworld than some arbitrary task.
It depends what exactly we consider a mundane chore, but probably Don't Starve. There's a lot of stuff that could be considered mundane chores.
-Gathering materials, like grass, twigs, or wood. There are plenty of materials that are more exciting to get, but these basic ones are pretty mundane. Really chill.
-Cooking food. Stick the ingredients in a pot and sit around until it's done. Great, I love it.
-Cleaning up the streets of the Hamlet. The pig people will literally just poop on the ground, and they'll pay you to clean it up. You can also trim the hedges scattered about for some extra cash. Hobo life ftw.
-Take the crops to market. Also in Hamlet, cooking food is less for yourself, more to take to town and sell for coin. Good fun. Ignore the part where these crops came from murdering a guard and stealing everything a farmer owned.
-Cleaning up after your pet. Forget his name, but you can get a little fuzzy dude for a pet, who will leave things on the ground. It's not entirely clear what it is, but we gotta clean up after him.
All of it is good fun.
